However, the nominations left everyone stunned, with unexpected stars being left out and more surprising nominees. Needless to say, it has become one of the most widely discussed topics.

Several high-profile names who dominated the headlines throughout the year have shockingly failed to find a place in the Golden Globe 2026 nominations. It begins with Jonathan Bailey, who was expected to be an expected nominee for Wicked: For Good, but found no place in the list. In contrast, both Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have found a place in the same roles,, leading to their nominations earlier. It is more shocking since their film made history by securing double nominations for two leads.

Robert Pattinson's snub for Die, My Love also left viewers surprised, especially since Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for Best Actress for the same film. Similarly, Jennifer Lopez, who may receive her first-ever Oscar this year for Kiss of the Spider Woman was not nominated for the Golden Globes. On the other hand, Pedro Pascal, who was long considered a favourite in the award season, was left out for his performance in The Last of Us.

Likewise, Hailee Steinfeld's standout work in Sinners was overlooked, despite the film earning seven nominations. Alongside thethe Kelce brothers' New Heights, which failed to secure nominations in the award's first-ever'Best Podcast' category.

Continuing its streak, Only Murders in the Building held its place and turned the predictions wrong,, which had claimed that the show had reached its peak during award season in previous years. Meanwhile, Peacock's All Her Fault and new limited series, Adolescence performed far better than anticipated. The latter, in fact, earned five nominations and established itself as a dark-horse favourite. Another standout moment were Sinners, which earned several major nominations.
