Theresa Nist claimed that her ex-husband, Gerry Turner, had once made some really disturbing comments during their marriage. The Golden Bachelor couple's romance was extremely short-lived. And well, after one tells their wife where they'll hide their 'body', it's better to get out as soon as possible. Theresa spoke on the Dear Shandy podcast and reflected on the trip with Gerry when his 'dark humour' had her questioning everything.
Theresa Nist claimed this week that her ex-husband, Gerry Turner, once said he was going to 'chop up her body' during their short-lived romance. She recalled during the podcast that when they were visiting the lake after their marriage, he pointed to a shed and claimed that was where he would hide her dead body. Theresa recalled the incident and said:
"We took a walk around this lake called Pretty Lake, and we were coming to the end of it, and he said — this is really bizarre — He said, 'You see that shed up there?' I said, 'Yeah.' He said, 'Well, that's where I'm going to hide your body after I kill you and chop you up, and he wasn't laughing. I said, 'Well, if this was his idea of a joke, that was pretty dark humor.'"

In the same conversation, Theresa revealed that it was then that she felt the animosity in Gerry Turner's voice. However, she assured the host that she doesn't believe that he would have murdered her. Nonetheless, the incident gave her an idea about the underlying feeling Gerry had for her. She was quoted as saying:
"I just felt like there was animosity in that statement that was underlying. Like, maybe if he could have gotten rid of me somehow. No, I don't think that was true. It's not true, but it just spoke to an underlying feeling about me."

Theresa Nist married Gerry Turner in January 2024 in a televised ceremony. However, their romance was extremely short-lived as they parted ways three months later. She also opened up about her ex's bombshell memoir, Golden Years, and explained why some of his recollections and statements made her "extremely upset." Theresa claimed that Gerry's account recounted things that never happened, as he had stated. She argued that Gerry did her "no favors" by getting into a marriage he knew he didn't want.

Gerry Turner filed for divorce in his hometown of Petersburg, Indiana, three months after their 2024 television wedding, citing "irreconcilable differences." His filing came several hours after the couple's split announcement on Good Morning America. Theresa Nist reflected on how Gerry, in his memoir, claimed he shouldn't have married her and stated:

"You did me no favors by marrying a woman that you did not want to marry. You should not. You should have called off the wedding. No matter that we were on TV, that didn't matter. This was our lives. You should have stopped it. He regretted it, and then he resented being married to me. So, he really tried to make it work, and any little thing that I did that he thought wasn't right, he lashed out at me. If you really wanted to be with [runner-up] Leslie [Fhima], I would have applauded it. I would have supported you. I would have been so happy."
