Famous actor, Gene Hackman was found dead along with his wife, Betsy Arakawa and their dog at their New Mexico home on February 26, 2025. While Gene was a 95-year-old Oscar-winning actor, his wife, Betsy, was 63 years old. Talking about their strange death, the County Sheriff, Adan Mendoza, denied any indication of foul play. Their fans are awaiting their cause of death, which is not yet known.

The 63-year-old Betsy was a classical pianist. She and Gene Hackman married in 1991. However, not much is known about her as she stayed away from the limelight. She was born in Hawaii. Also, the couple together left the spotlight a few years before their passing.

How did Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa meet?

According to reports, Gene and Betsy met at a gym, wherein the latter was working part-time, in California in the mid-80s. After this, Betsy began her career in music. Gene Hackman was married to Fay Maltese before he fell in love with Betsy. The ex-couple had a son, Christopher and two daughters, Elizabeth and Leslie. However, they parted ways in the mid-1980s. It was in 1991 when he married Betsy, who was working as a classical pianist.

In 1990, they built a beautiful home in Santa Fe, where they settled. It was Betsy, who designed their home. Their home was also featured in Architectural Digest. Talking about his home, Gene had told the magazine:

"We bought a few things in Santa Fe. Other things came from auctions in New York, an antiques shop in Germany that Betsy and I found, and from Los Angeles. It's a nice combination of soft southwestern pieces and hard-edged antiques."

It is sad that Gene Hackman, who had lived with his wife, Betsy Arakawa, for 34 years in the same home, took their last breath together. A statement from the Santa Fe Country Sheriff could be read as:

"We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail. This is an active investigation - however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor."

Gene Hackman was born in 1930 in California. He served in the army at the age of 16, and served the country for over four years. After coming back, he lived in New York and decided to pursue acting. He won two Academy Awards, Best Actor for the 1971 film The French Connection and Best Supporting Actor for Unforgiven in 1992. His other notable films are Bonnie and Clyde, I Never Sang For My Father and Mississippi Burning.
