In a recent interview, television actress, Gautami Kapoor made some unexpected revelations about her marriage to Ram Kapoor, and let’s just say, it wasn’t your typical fairytale celebration! Gautami Kapoor recalls missing her own reception with Ram Kapoor

In a candid chat with Hauterrfly's The Male Feminist, Gautami Kapoor shared some hilarious moments from her wedding with Ram Kapoor, reminiscing about the unforgettable and slightly chaotic memories from their biggest day. After completing their pheras, the couple had a grand reception planned, followed by a family brunch the next morning. But the newlyweds were so exhausted from the celebrations that they ended up sleeping through the brunch entirely. Recalling her mother-in-law’s livid reaction, Gautami shared:

“Koi apne wedding ka din kaise bhul sakta hai? Toh main kabhi nahi bhulungi, it’s like etched in my memory forever…The thing that happened at my wedding is, we finished the pheras, and then next, we had a reception, and then the next day, we had a brunch, which was planned for the outstation family members. We never turned up for it because we were so tired, and we slept at some 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning, because all our friends were in our suite. So we never woke up, never turned up for that function. So, my mother-in-law was livid, livid!”

Gautami Kapoor recalls her brother’s drunken chaos at the reception

As if the bride and groom missing their own post-wedding brunch wasn’t chaotic enough, Gautami shared yet another hilarious memory from their reception night. In a surprising twist, it wasn’t the groom, Ram Kapoor, who got the most drunk, but his new brother-in-law. The situation took such a turn that Ram ended up playing caretaker to Gautami’s brother on their very first reception night. In Gautami’s words:

“At my reception, the person who got the most drunk was my brother. So he was in the bathroom, throwing up, and my mother panicked, because my mother was like, ‘Oh my god, hum ladkiwaale hai, and what are we going to do?’ So she ran and she caught hold of Ram, and she told Ram, ‘Please take care of him.’ So, my husband took care of my brother on the very first reception night of my wedding, and we will never forget that.”

Gautami Kapoor talks about her first marriage at 22

In another part of the interview, Gautami revealed she had been married once before Ram. It happened when she was just 22 or 23, at a time when women rarely had a say in such decisions. Her first marriage ended quickly and amicably, as both agreed it was the right step, and there were no hard feelings. Talking about her first marriage, Gautami shared:

“I was very young during my first marriage. I was around 22-23 years old, and those times were different. Women didn’t have a say whether women wanted to get married or not. So that ended very quickly, and ended well. There was no problem, we were happy because that was the right decision, and we both moved on.”

Irrespective of all the wedding drama, Gautami and Ram Kapoor are going strong to this day, and they remain one of the most adored power-couples of the Indian television industry. Married in 2003, they are now parents to two children, Sia and Aks.
