Gautam Adani is the Founder and Chairman of one of the biggest conglomerates in India, Adani Group. With a net worth of Rs. 6,75,000 crores, Gautam Adani is the second richest person in India. Talking about the services of the Adani Group, the conglomerate is widespread in different sectors, from port management, electric power, mining, renewable energy, airport operations, oil and gas, food processing, infrastructure, and many more.
Despite dealing in several sectors, Gautam Adani's primary businesses include airport management and mining. Every now and then, we have seen him crack new deals with big players to expand his stature in the respective sectors. While Gautam Adani is still motivated to take the Adani Group to further heights at the age of 61, his sons, Karan Adani and Jeet Adani are also following in their father's footsteps.

Gautam Adani's younger son, Jeet Adani is currently the Vice President of the Group Finance. Talking about the elder son, Karan Adani, he is the Managing Director of APSEZ (Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited). The 36-year-old businessman has already garnered immense praise for his role in important deals of the APSEZ in recent years. A glimpse of the same everyone witnessed in March 2024, when Karan Adani opened up about a major deal between APSEZ and GPL (Gopalpur Port).
According to a report in Times Now News, Adani Group released an official press release in which the company opened up about their deal with Odisha's Gopalpur Port (GPL). As per the press release, APSEZ announced the acquisition of 95 per cent stakes in Gopalpur Port for an EV (Enterprise value) of Rs. 3080 crores. The strategic move is a part of Karan Adani-led APSEZ, which will bolster the company's presence on India's east coast.

Going into the details of the massive deal, the deal between APSEZ and GPL involved an equity value of Rs. 1,349 crores. As per the press release, the deal also involves an additional contingent consideration of Rs. 270 crores, which is to be paid after 5.5 years and that too are subject to a series of certain conditions.
For the unversed, APSEZ (Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited) is the largest private port operator in India. With Gopalpur Port handling over 20 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA), the deal is going to be a path-breaking one for the Adani Group, who is aiming to expand its empire across India. However, in the official statement by the Adani Group, Karan Adani shared his enthusiasm about the deal with Gopalpur Port. The Managing Director of APSEZ clearly stated that Gopalpur Port will open the gates for his company to deliver more enhanced solutions to its customers.

Further, in the same official statement, Gautam Adani's son, Karan Adani, also stated how the acquisition of Gopalpur Port will help APSEZ gain unprecedented access to several mining hubs in Odisha. Not only this, Karan also admitted that it would also strengthen and expand Adani Group's major PAN-India port network project. For the unversed, Gopalpur Port is connected to its hinterland by the national highway, NH16. Not only this, the port also has a dedicated link with the Chennai-Howrah main line.
During the Amazon Smbhav Summit 2022, Karan Adani opened up about handling the pressure of his father, Gautam Adani's legacy. The doting son admitted that there's pressure on him and his generation to do things in a better manner than before. Not only this, Karan also shared how people want him to do things faster with the help of innovation. The constant pressure is what keeps him awake at night. He said:
"I think the expectation is high on how we do things better. How do we do it faster? How do we do it in a much different way than what was being done in the past? This is what keeps me awake at night and charges me up to live up to those expectations."

Further in the same interview, Karan Adani also shared a few bits of advice his father, Gautam Adani has given him. The first is always to stay grounded and be aware of the problems your staff is going through. The second advice is to keep things as simple as possible instead of getting diverted due to complexities. The third is to think about scaling if you really want to build something. Karan Adani said:
"You need to know the pulse of the ground-level situation. My father says that you should go directly to the root of the problem and not get diverted by too many complexities.Think either at the state level, national level, or at a global level, but it has to be at a scale which allows you to influence the way things are being done, influence the way policies are being made, and change the game of the of the industry."
For the unversed, Karan Adani is married to a leading corporate lawyer named Paridhi Shroff. The couple got married back in 2013 in Goa in a lavish wedding ceremony. It was in 2016, when Karan and Paridhi welcomed a baby girl into their lives and chose the name 'Anuradha' for her.
