'Celebrity MasterChef': Did Gaurav Khanna Hit Back On Claims Of Copying Swiss Chef's Dessert?

Gaurav Khanna is a prominent television actor who has entertained audiences with his versatile roles for over a decade. From Kumkum to Anupama, his heartfelt characters have won people's hearts. But fans saw the real side of his personality in Celebrity MasterChef. However, his journey was filled with a myriad of controversies. One of the most popular stir was created when the actor was accused of plagiarism for his honey-dripping dessert. After being silent over it for a long time, one of Gaurav's statements in the finale episode made fans believe it was a reaction to the allegations. Here's why.

Did Gaurav Khanna react to claims of copying Swiss-chef's dessert?

Celebrity MasterChef has finally ended after a long journey spanning months with a grand finale. The last episode saw everyone having fun, finalists making tasty dishes and emotional moments where everyone recalled their journey on the show. The special guest on the occasion was renowned chef, Sanjeev Kapoor, who tasted the dishes made by the finalists. Everyone did their best for their final preparation, but Gaurav stole the spotlight. While presenting the dish, he shed light on his journey, allegedly addressing the accusations of copying Swiss-chef's dessert. He said:

"As an actor, mein aaj tak camera mein roya nai. Mera pehle reality show hai aur mein hamesha sochta tha ki reality show mein na kuch real nai hota. Par mein galat tha. Iss show mein sirf reality hi hai. Competitions, starting low, accusations, I've just put everything there. Sab meine plate mein daal diya." 

Gaurav Khanna's honesty and struggle were reflected in his final dish which left the judges spellbound. Chef, Sanjeev Kapoor couldn't stop praising the dish. He won the show's first season and took home Rs. 20 lakh. Apart from him, Nikki Tamboli was announced as the first runner-up, followed by Tejasswi Prakash as the second runner-up. Moreover, Faisal Shaikh and Rajiv Adatia also made it to the finale.

Swiss chef took a dig at Gaurav Khanna for copying his honey-dripping dessert 

Gaurav Khanna did immense hard work to improve himself on Celebrity MasterChef. In the race to the finale, Gaurav left fans and judges impressed with his visually stunning honey-dripping dessert. Chef, Ranveer Brar called it a 'live dessert' while Vikas Khanna mentioned that he has seen a lot of repeated dishes made on the show, but this was new. However, netizens accused Gaurav of plagiarism, and a Swiss chef, Dives Josh, who was credited for making the original dessert himself, shared a picture of his dish on his Instagram handle and shared it. He tagged it 'original' while taking a subtle dig at Gaurav's dish and re-sharing the promo. Along with the video, he shared some laughing emojis and penned:

"Well done, so creative…"

Who is Gaurav Khanna?

Gaurav Khanna is a well-known face in the TV industry who began his career as a marketing manager. Later, he transitioned into showbiz and made his debut with Bhabhi. He rose to fame with his next show, Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan and Meri Doli Tere Angana. Gaurav has also worked on popular shows like Saathi – Humsafar Zindagi Ke, CID, and Anupamaa. His journey on Celebrity MasterChef has been memorable because after he received poor reviews for his initial dishes and faced difficulty due to colour blindness, the actor worked hard to impress everyone with his culinary skills. In his personal life, Gaurav Khanna dated actress Akanksha Chamola, and they tied the knot in 2016.
