Gaurav Khanna Shares He Is Colour Blind On 'Celebrity MasterChef', 'Kuch Log Jante Hain..'

Anupamaa fame, Gaurav Khanna, is a part of the new cooking reality show, Celebrity MasterChef. He has donned the chef hat and draped an apron and is working hard to win the honoured title of Celebrity MasterChef. Farah Khan hosts the show and also features famous chefs, Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar. Gaurav, who is a part of the culinary competition event recently, revealed that he is colour-blind.

Gaurav Khanna talks about his colour blindness

A video went viral from the sets of Celebrity MasterChef, where Gaurav wore a white apron with the logo of the cooking reality show. He was seen making prawn curry, and it was here that he showed his vulnerable side and spoke about his colour blindness issue. The clip showed the actor revealing that he did not know how the prawn curry was looking due to his colour blindness problem. In his words:

"Mujhe pata nai kaise ban raha hai. Sirf colour se karna hai lekin problem yeh hai ki mei colour blind hu. Kahi log jante hai aur kahi log nai jante yeh baat ko. Yeh hoh gaya hai kya. Mei khata nai hu prawns."

When Gaurav Khanna revealed his colour blindness is not curable

Gaurav is best remembered for his role as 'Anuj Kapadia' in Rupali Ganguly's longest-running show, Anupamaa. His fans have been happy seeing him back in the TV world as he was off-camera reportedly for two months. However, this is not the first time the actor revealed his colour blindness issue in a show. Earlier, in an interview with India Forums, he had confessed to having a disease that did add problems to his life. In his words:

"I do suffer from colour blindness and it's a disease. Whenever I go to a new city or a place, I can't differentiate between colours. And it's not curable."

Gaurav is giving a tough fight to Abhijeet Sawant, Nikki Tamboli, Dipika Kakar, Rajiv Adatia, Ayesha Jhulka, Archana Gautam, Usha Nadkarni, Kabita Singh, Faisal Shaikh, Tejasswi Prakash and Chandan Prabhakar in Celebrity MasterChef show.

When Gaurav Khanna spoke about pay disparity of TV stars

Gaurav has carved his niche in the TV world, and the actor in an interview with the Hindustan Times had, spoken about the pay disparity. The actor did have his set of struggles, but he always had an optimistic stride. He shared that one needs to be honest about the craft, and honesty would add value to your work. In his words:

“If I get a lot of fame and adulation, I think that’s so much more than a person who will be earning twice or even five times of what I would probably make. The love from the audiences and the accolades that I get for my performance, cannot compete with any monetary value."

How Gaurav Khanna left Anupamaa to join Celebrity MasterChef?

Anupamaa show had seen a 15-year leap in October 2024, and during that time, Gaurav was absent from the sets of the show. His fans did not know that he was seeing greener pastures and thought his career was over. In an interview with the ETimes, Gaurav shared that it was time to move on. In his words:

“People have been constantly asking me about my return to Anupamaa. Rajan sir (producer Rajan Shahi) had discussed the possibility of a grand re-entry for the character, and we waited two months for it to materialise. So, for now, Anuj’s chapter is closed, but I see it as a comma, not a full stop. If the story demands and my schedule allows, I’d be happy to return."
