Plotline of Funky

Desperate to finish the film, he goes to ask his producer for more money, but the producer refuses. The movie takes an interesting turn, when 'Chitra', the producer's daughter, comes on board and makes sure the film gets finished. Slowly and gradually, 'Komal' falls in love with 'Chitra'. Overall, Funky is about 'Komal's' effort to complete the film and win 'Chitra's' heart.

For those who do not know, the Telugu film is directed by Anudeep KV, who is best known for his hit comedy films, where logic is not much needed and is packed with silly fun. The film stars Vishwak Sen in the lead role opposite Kayadu Lohar. Apart from them, the romantic comedy also stars K. Naresh, VTV Ganesh and more. It is worth mentioning that the film first grabbed attention due to its promotional campaign, which was "a film with no part 2."

Funky OTT release date

According to a recent report by The Times Of India, the streaming rights of the Telugu film, Funky have been acquired by the OTT giant, Netflix. According to the same report, the film is likely to premiere somewhere around mid-March to early April. Reports also suggest that the film will be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. For the unversed, viewers will need a subscription to the OTT platform to watch the film.

Cinephiles who watched the Telugu film on the first day, shared their reviews on X (formerly Twitter) handles. It is worth noting that the movie received mixed opinions from the audience. One user commented, "Decent 1st half. Most of the comedy lands #Funky. Decent 2nd half. Packed with Anudeep's silly one-liners that land for the most part. Emotion in the climax works. Editing is uneven that hampers the flow. Liked it overall." Another user wrote, "Funky a silly over the top comedy where a few gags land well, rest of the movie is all over the place, utter nonsense and I guess most will feel the theme of #VishwakSen Try at your own patience #FunkyReview."

Funky director, Anudeep KV opens up about his film

A few days before the release of the film, Funky, the entire cast and crew sat down for a candid conversation, during which he opened up about his upcoming film. When director, Anudeep KV was asked if he is nervous for the release, the much-loved filmmaker shared that his job is till the film is made. Once it is ‘dispatched’, his job is done and he moves on. He was quoted as saying:

"Funky has been dispatched. I fine tune a film as long as it is in my hands. Once done, I move on. The script for my next one is ready. It is a female-led story with a mix of emotional drama, horror, and comedy. There are quite a few stories I want to narrate in different genres."
