Bollywood star, Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case has left the industry in a state of shock and horror, raising questions about the security of such high-profile celebrities. While investigation is underway, a shocking development of the case has been observed, adding new twists to the investigation.
A while ago, a fresh CCTV visual of the suspected attacker surfaced, adding new twists to the ongoing investigation. Reports indicate the suspect was spotted near Bandra until 8 am the morning after the attack. The footage was captured near Bandra Railway Station a day after the attack. It shows the suspect wearing a blue shirt, contrasting the black t-shirt he wore in the earlier footage from Saif Ali Khan’s apartment building. This change of attire is much likely an attempt to evade identification.
The earlier footage was released by Mumbai Police in the later hours of January 16, 2025, which showed the suspect descending the stairwell of Saif’s apartment building at 2:33 am. The footage was captured moments after allegedly stabbing the actor six times during a botched burglary attempt. The suspect was seen in a dark t-shirt, jeans an orange scarf around his neck, and carrying a backpack.
The horrific incident occurred in the wee hours of January 16, 2025, when Saif heard a commotion involving the attacker and a house help. Rushing to intervene, the actor found himself in a physical altercation, during which the assailant used a sharp object to stab him in the neck, stomach, and back. Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a 2.5-inch blade fragment lodged near his spine. Doctors revealed that the knife narrowly missed his spine by just two millimetres, averting potential paralysis.
Saif’s concerned doctors attended a press event today, where they shared how the actor reached the hospital soaked in blood, holding his 7-year-old Taimur’s hand, and did not even look at the stretcher. He did not take any help and walked all the way in, after which he had to undergo emergency surgery. COO, Dr Niraj Uttamani described his demeanour as "heroic," noting that the actor’s courage was remarkable under such dire circumstances.

Earlier today, investigation reports revealed that the intruder had first targeted Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, but failed, given the area’s tight security and high railing. CCTV footage extracted from Mannat showed the intruder trying to topple the boundaries with an 8-foot-long ladder. Talking about the security at Saif’s apartment building, a police officer told TOI:
“There were no personal guards stationed at the entrance or inside the flat to monitor visitors or respond to any emergency. The building society too lacked a register logbook to track individuals entering and exiting the premises.”
Currently, Saif Ali Khan is recovering at Lilavati Hospital, where he has been shifted from the ICU to a private room. Visitors have been restricted to prevent infection due to his spinal injury. Doctors report that Khan is progressing well and could be discharged by January 21.
