In a conversation with PEOPLE in January 2026, Fran Drescher reflected on being single after her divorce from Peter Marc Jacobson and revealed that she doesn't want to compromise. She added that being with someone requires a lot of sacrifice and adjustments. Even then, she had shared how, by having a gay ex-husband, she felt even less need to adjust or compromise. She was quoted as saying:
"Selfishly, I don’t want to compromise. That's a lot of what it is when you're with somebody...but the more you live on your own, the less you want to do that, and the less you need it if you happen to have a gay ex-husband."

In the same conversation, Fran Drescher revealed that her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, was what kept pursuers away from her, as she took him everywhere despite their divorce. She revealed, however, that she doesn't care about being approached. She reflected on their bond and was quoted as saying:
"But because I have Peter, I think he's a bit of a cockblock. I take him to everything, and I don't really care. I have a gay ex-husband, live with it! But I've been with him since I was 15. Who can compete with that? And over the years, he grew tremendously. He's not the same person. Neither one of us is who we were when we were married."
