Former Indian cricketer, Bishan Singh Bedi left for the heavenly abode on October 23, 2023. He was 77 years old when he took his last breath after a prolonged illness. For the unversed, Bishan Singh Bedi was a left-arm spinner. He had even captiined the Indian team in 22 test matches.
On October 23, 2023, a PTI report stated that the former Indian cricketer, Bishan Singh Bedi, left for the heavenly abode due to a prolonged illness. For those who don't know, he started his cricket career in 1967 and was active till 1979. In his beautiful cricket journey, he has played 67 test matches. Moreover, Bishan Singh Bedi was also a Padma Shri winner, who played India's first-ever ODL against East Africa in 1975.

Bishan Singh Bedi is survived by his wife, Anju Inderjit Bedi, and his kids. The former Indian cricketer was a father of four kids, including actor, Angad Bedi, Gavasinder Bedi, Gill Bedi and Glenith Bedi. For the unversed, his son, Angad Bedi is married to Bollywood actress, Neha Dhupia.
Bishan Singh Bedi played for the Delhi team in Domestic cricket. After taking retirement from all formats of cricket, he went onto work as a coach and mentor for several budding Indian cricketers. Moreover, Bishan Singh Bedi has even worked as a commentator and pundit in several cricket matches. The former cricketer was the manager of the Indian cricket team in 1990 during the New Zealand and England tours.

Soon after the news of Bishan Singh Bedi hit the headlines, several cricketers, including Irfan Pathan paid his heartfelt respect to the former. Taking to his X handle (formerly known as Twitter), Irfan penned a note on how Bishan Singh Bedi's demise is a tragic loss for the cricket fraternity. His tweet can be read as:
"Bishan singh bedi One of our best is no more. It's a loss to our cricketing fraternity. My deep condolences to his family."
