Fawad Khan's, 'Abir Gulaal' Set For Release Demands To Be Banned Amid Pahalgam Attack, 'Stop..'

A peaceful visit to the valleys of Kashmir turned into a pool of blood for several families on April 22, 2025, after terrorists opened fire on 26 civilians. The attack happened in the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination in the southeast area of Srinagar. The Resistance Front, a foot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. Now, amid all this, Pakistani actor, Fawad Khan's and Vaani Kapoor's movie, Abir Gulaal is all set to release on May 9, 2025, and their fans do not look happy. Netizens have been mounting for a ban on the movie.

Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal mounts a ban after the Pahalgam attack

Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal's teaser is being loved by all the fans, and they have adored the chemistry between Fawad and Vaani. However, after the innocent civilians were killed, after they were asked about their religions and then indiscriminate firing happened, netizens have been asking for a ban on Abir Gulaal. The attack has irked the citizens of India, and a wave of sadness, anger is in the nation. Where tourists flock to enjoy Kashmir's beauty, this current attack has destroyed claims of peace in the valley, affected tourism business, economy and on Pakistani stars like Fawad Khan's collaboration once again with India.

Netizens think that Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal should be banned

Aarti S Bagdi has directed Abir Gulaal, and will be a cross-country love story. It has been a topic of controversy since the movie was announced amid Fawad, being a Pakistani, being cast amid India and Pakistan's strained equations and due to the tensions at the borders. One netizen on Reddit wrote, "I think the theatres and OTT platforms should ban this movie now. Stop employing these 'artists." Another one commented, "Fawad sochta hoga- jab movie karne nikalta hoon yeh attack ho jaata hai, pehle Uri aur phir yeh. Maybe next time Fawad’s movie is releasing, pehle high security alert kar dena chaiye."

A user also commented, "Well it was always going to happen. Idk what the makers were thinking making this movie. And at times like this, the release of such a movie could harm Bollywood as a whole." Another one wrote, "It was never gonna release anyway (they were hoping to fly under the radar coz how irrelevant the movie felt for ppl to bother discussing it) and even if it had released, the movie was heading towards a disaster verdict at the box office. I think we as a society, have moved on from Fawad or his once-upon-a-time supposed “appeal”. Boycott nahin karengey phir bhi flop hi honi thi. Ott pe dekhne wali movie hai. Ott pe kyun release nahin kiya is beyond me."

Bollywood's collaboration with Pakistani stars

The shocking terror attack on 26 tourists at Pahalgam has again reignited public outrage. Social media users are already questioning the decision of the Hindi film industry to collaborate with the Pakistani stars despite the situation being hostile. Netizens have been demanding Abir Gulaal be banned, pulled down or rescheduled. The fact that Pakistani artists are still being welcomed in Indian cinema while our soldiers are being martyred at the borders and innocent lives are being lost is not being appreciated. Fawad's return to the Hindi film industry was not something people are now looking upon. Will the movie reach the light of day is something time will tell?
