Shailin Mehta, a diamond merchant from Belgium, and Masoom, CEO of an E-commerce brand Style Fiesta, “met through a random introduction and then a couple of common friends”. But little did they knew that they will soon fall for each other. And so did it happen.
After falling in “love over the phone”, Shailin planned a special proposal for Masoom in London at the iconic London Eye to which she happily said yes. She further added:
“Picture this – we were in the London Eye Glass Bubble, sitting on top of the world (practically), it started raining & he was asking me to be his girlfriend in the most magical way I had ever envisioned!!!”

And then finally after three and a half years, Shailin bent on his knees and proposed marriage to Masoom at Mumbai’s Marine Drive in the most magical way possible and she said yes. Talking about that magical moment, she gushed saying:
“At that very moment, a violinist and guitarist appeared and began playing. I looked back at Shailin, and he was down on his knees, holding the most beautiful ring I had ever seen, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was so moving—he re-created the moment our love story started, at London’s biggest landmark, and transported it to Mumbai’s monumental seaside walkway.”
Shailin just knows how to woo his lady love! Then after a few days, they both got engaged in front of their near and dear ones.

Masoom is a “lover of Indian culture and traditions at heart” and wanted the same to be reflected in her wedding. And, before starting the shopping spree for her wedding attires, she jotted down all the cuts and shapes she wanted to wear at various functions. She said:
“I ensured that I covered every silhouette that I loved along with segregating appropriate jewellery and beauty looks for each function.”
It was a small Gujarati roka ceremony in Mumbai and they both sealed the deal by exchanging rings. Masoom’s engagement ring was engraved with the date that marked the beginning of their romance “18/04/2012 to ∞.” And to make sure that her “social media family” doesn’t feel left out, she created hashtag #MissSFVirtualEngagement and shared her celebration with everyone.
But, what grabbed the attention was her gorgeous designer pale blue lehenga. Talking about her engagement outfit, Masoom said:
“I picked this Anita Dongre pastel hue lehenga with only one idea in mind – I did not want anything loud, bright or over-the-top.”

The wedding celebrations kick-started with a holi-themed cocktail party as the couple love this festival of colours. For the party, 100 percent organic colours were used and had carnival-themed food to add more fun.
The bride-to-be looked gorgeous in this outfit by designer Priyanka Modi from AM:PM. Masoom said:
“I wanted a lehenga with a modern silhouette and the asymmetric skirt and wrap tie back blouse of this mustard yellow lehenga just fit the bill. It was a crazy function and the outfit had to blend well with the theme! This was a vibrant and fun look with just the right amount of skin show.”
Her pretty big earrings and bangles were from Apala by Sumit.
For the sit down dinner, Masoom chose Tarun Tahiliani’s saree with a stylish cape, which had tassels and intricate embroidery on it.
Masoom looked like royalty in this attire. Sharing her views on her choice she said:
“This outfit was extremely experimental and I loved all the little details that went into it. The colour was somewhere between olive and gold which I absolutely loved.”

For her haldi ceremony, the bride-to-be wore a yellow saree borrowed from her mother’s closet and opted for pretty floral jewellery for the day.
And for the bohemian-style mehendi function, Masoom turned to a red saree by Anamika Khanna from AZA. She said:
“I absolutely adore Indian outfits with a modern touch and a draped saree looked like the perfect pick. Also, it was super comfortable and fuss free.”
And oh! Do not miss the mehendi design of the London eye as an ode to their love story.
Masoom’s sangeet dress was all kinds of fab. The fashionista picked a turquoise lehenga with stylish cape sleeves, lotus motif and mirror detailing designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.
Sharing the reason behind her interesting pick, Masoom said:
“I wanted a look that was magnificent and striking. I wanted to experiment with bright colours and outfit styles that would allow me to dance without any restrictions.”
The bride-to-be looked like a goddess in her second outfit as well that she wore for the night. She wore a high waist grey lehenga skirt with intricate golden embroidery created by Manish Malhotra.
The jewellery was by Lion Jewellers and both Masoom and her man were looking gorgeous together.

While many brides chose to wear the traditional red lehenga for their big day, Masoom decided to wear an ivory-coloured lehenga by Anamika Khanna. Talking about her unconventional choice she said:
“I wanted an ivory base, a pastel palette, two dupattas (scarves), embroidery that would not overweigh my frame, and hints of a muted pink. I wanted to look like myself and not have my outfit, jewellery, or makeup take that away from me.”
And it did not. Her wedding dress redefined elegance in every way. The jewellery was by Lion Jewellers.
