Veteran actress, Farida Jalal is one of the most popular artists in Bollywood. She has been known for her kind-hearted, positive roles in films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Tarzan: The Wonder Car, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Zubeidaa among so many others. Moreover, the legendary actress has also done a commendable share of work both in the theatres and in the television world. And recently, she reminisced fond memories of her friendship and bonding with the Bachchans.
In a recent interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Farida Jalal spoke about her bonding with the legendary actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. The veteran actress spoke about her experiences of working with the duo in several films and mentioned that their association goes back a long time. Sharing how they are still connected with her, Farida mentioned:

“I have a very old relationship with Amitji and an older one with Jaya. We have a lot of love for each other even today. Even though we don’t meet that often, it has not affected the love we share for each other. Even now Amitji sends me greetings on my birthday. I met him during Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.”

In the same interview, Farida Jalal opened up on some special moments that she had spent with Amitabh and Jaya. She revealed that the couple would often pull her in for coffee drives, while they dated one another. In her words:
“Back then, we had a big group, and we always used to meet up. I remember when Amitabh and Jaya were in the midst of their courtship days before getting married. They would pick me up from my house in Pali Hills at night, and we’d go for a drive to have coffee at Taj.”

In one of her previous interviews with the Hindustan Times, Farida Jalal opened up about getting unfairly type-casted at an early stage in her career. She revealed that in comparison to other male counterparts, she was stereotypically led to portray a certain type of stock characters only. She mentioned:

“I have much more to give, much more to do before I say goodbye. My potential is yet to be tapped. People should think beyond stereotyping me in similar characters. It's disheartening and painful that they can't think beyond certain roles for me. I see my male counterparts portraying varied characters in different languages, Indian and international films. They're playing villains, comedians, lawyers, doctors... then why aren't such roles written for female actors? I do get jealous at times.”
