Veteran actress, Farida Jalal has been leading the headlines with her role as Taha Shah's on-screen grandmother in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The actress started her career back in 1967 with the film, Taqdeer and went on to create magic on-screen with her mesmerising acting chops. The actress shares a good bond with the Bachchans. Time and again, she had talked about witnessing Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's camaraderie in real life, and yet the same happened again, as the Heeramandi actress revealed how the much-in-love couple used to be during their courtship period, and it's something that every other couple can relate to.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Farida Jalal revealed that Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan used to fight just like every other couple during their courtship period. She added that the couple used to take her along on coffee dates at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.

Farida walked down the memory lane and stated how she used to be in the backseat while Amitabh used to drive the car with Jaya beside him. The Heeramandi actress added that she often used to tell the duo that she didn't like being the third wheel and complained to them for spoiling her sleep. Farida said:
"I would tell them, 'Tum log mujhe kebab mein haddi bana kar kyun laate ho? I used to complain to them about spoiling my sleep as I was an early-to-bed girl."
Going further in the interview, Farida Jalal added that she witnessed the khatta-meetha bond between Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. She said that Jaya used to get upset with Amitabh and the latter would pacify her. Farida added that she loved watching the couple, as her friendship with Jaya was old. She also added that she used to call Jaya 'Jiya'. Speaking along the same lines, Farida added that they would go out to have coffee or tea at the Taj and would return around 11 pm while the couple used to discuss their film, Abhimaan. Farida can be quoted as saying:
"Inka jhagdha chal raha hai, vo royengi, ye manayenge, and I am witnessing it all, and I am loving it also because I am very fond of Jaya, I call her Jiya. Our friendship is quite old. They would have coffee or tea at Taj, and would return at around 11 pm. While returning, they would discuss their film 'Abhimaan' and say, 'We will create magic with this'."
In the same interview, Farida Jalal added that Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan used to fight over trivial things. She also revealed that it was Jaya who used to get upset very easily. Well, there is no denying that such a revelation by Farida about Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan owned every other couple's hearts out there, as it's really relatable. Farida added:
"They would fight over stupid things, I can't reveal that. Jaya jaldi rooth bhi jaati hain."

In an older interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Farida Jalal talked about her bond with Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. The veteran actress shared that she met the actor on the set of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and she has an old relationship with him. The actress added that her and Jaya's bonding is older. Talking more about the same, Farida stated that even though she doesn't meet the couple frequently, Amitabh sends her cards on her birthday.
