Fardeen shared that he had gone through a tough phase after the death of his father, Feroz Khan due to lung cancer in 2009. Sharing that he had given up on films because he was struggling in his personal life, Fardeen said:
"After my father passed, I needed some time off. I went through a tough time. I had a little bit of a health scare myself in 2009, just a few months after my father passed. Then we were very keen to have a family, Natasha and me. We had challenges in having children, so we had to go the IVF route. We had a bad experience with doctors here in Mumbai. Natasha really suffered because IVF is not easy. It's very hard on your body and on your health."
Fardeen mentioned that he was displaced during that time as he was shuffling between his life in India and London. He added that his mind was more involved in his personal matters, because of which he could not focus on his acting career. The actor revealed that he and Natasha had even lost their twins due to pregnancy complications. He said:
"We had a bad experience with doctors here in Mumbai and Natasha really suffered, it's very very hard on the body and your health. In 2011, we made a shift to London, we found a really really nice doctor there. In one of her initial pregnancies, we had twins, and she lost them at six months. So that was very very hard for us, it was a tough time. She did a live birth, and we lost the babies.

"We eventually had my daughter, she gave us a lot of joy. So when you go through something like that, you cherish life a lot more deeply, so when my daughter was born she just melted me."
Fardeen also revealed that he and his wife, Natasha had wanted to have another child to complete their family, and welcomed their son in 2017, so it had taken another couple of years before he could think about a comeback to Bollywood. He explained:
"We wanted two children to complete our family. Then we tried to have another child, but I was keen on having a son. I was hoping it to be a son. I would have been happy with anything. I thought like me and my sister, a girl and boy match is perfect. So, I was hoping to have a boy. It turned out perfectly well and that took a couple of years."
