Junaid Khan, son of popular actor, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, is currently the talk of the town before his upcoming theatrical debut with Loveyapa. The young star has already impressed fans with his acting in his debut film, Maharaj, while his humble nature and unfiltered personality have grabbed attention. However, Junaid's video of dancing to the title song's hook steps has received mixed reactions. Recently, in a new interview, Junaid Khan opened up about his dancing skills and how one of his dance sequences from Loveyapa was canceled by choreographer, Farah Khan.
Junaid Khan is one of the few upcoming actors who has never shied away from answering tricky questions. In a new interview, with comedians, Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Junaid opened up about his dance experience in Loveyapa song, 'Rehna Kol'. He revealed that choreographer, Farah Khan's assistant, initially taught him the dance steps for the film's song. However, she had to change her decision when she saw him perform the steps he has learned.
Junaid recalled that Farah Khan removed his dance sequence from the song and rather told him to just walk around his co-star, Khushi Kapoor. Moreover, the choreographer asked him to sit and let her do the work. Interestingly, Farah also choreographed Junaid's father, Aamir's first iconic song, Pehla Nasha from one of his initial films, Jo Jeeta Woh Sikandar. Recalling how Farah canceled his dance, the actor said:
"She asked me to perform in front of her, watched me, and said, 'Tujhse nahi hoga, tu chalke aa. Khushi se dance hoga, tu baithke dekh isko '"
In the same conversation, Junaid revealed that he faced a similar dilemma while filming his debut film, Maharaj. He admitted that he enjoys dancing but isn't skilled at it. The young actor shared that he rehearsed for four hours every day for 10 weeks to practice for a garba sequence in his debut film. Moreover, he lost a lot of weight and credits it to the choreographer, Vaibhavi Merchant. However, the film's editor cut most of his dance and kept only wide shots. In his words:
"Shweta mam cut everything in that song. I was looking so good in it, but she didn't keep one mid-shot of mine. Only wide shots were kept."
On the work front, Junaid Khan debuted in the Netflix film, Maharaj, co-starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari, Shalini Pandey, and more. He will next be seen in his theatrical debut film, Loveyapa, co-starring Khushi Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Kiku Sharda, and more. The film is directed by Advait Chandan and will be released on February 7, 2025. The actor also has an untitled film with Sai Pallavi that will be backed by Aamir Khan in the pipeline.
