The debate about nepotism in the film industry has been going on for a long time now. Clearly, people have clearly understood the two different binaries between actors who came from humble backgrounds versus those who came from influential film families. However, there is also a third category of actors in the Indian film industry who do not belong from film families and come from a completely different field of politics. Well then, take a look at some of these popular names in the showbiz world whose parents belong from the hardcore world of politics, and yet being their kids, these celebs chose a different world for them.

Riteish Deshmukh has been one of the most talented actors in the film industry. He is known for his versatile nature, through which he can nail any kind of role effortlessly. Riteish is the son of the renowned politician, late Vilasrao Deshmukh. He was the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and was also the Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

Neha Sharma rose to fame with her successful acting stints in films like Youngistaan, Tum Bin 2, Crook among others. A native of Bihar, she had kickstarted her career by pursuing fashion designing at NIFT. She is also a trained Kathak dancer. Neha is the daughter of Ajith Sharma, who is a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Bhagalpur constituency. He is affiliated with the party, Indian National Congress.
Son of late Union Minister of India, Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan made his debut in the film industry with the film, Miley Na Miley Hum opposite Kangana Ranaut in 2011. He initially pursued a degree in Computer Engineering, but dropped out of it within the third semester in order to follow his dreams of acting. Subsequently, he also kept his political involvement intact and had contested for the 2014 elections for the Lok Janshakti Party, which he won.

Aayush Sharma got his big Bollywood debut with the film, Loveyatri in 2018 under the banner of Salman Khan’s production. Thereafter, he made a successful performance in the film, Antim that gave him widespread recognition. Married to Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita Khan, Aayush belongs to a political family. He is the son of Anil Sharma, who is a member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

His father, Ajay Arun Singh is a politician from the state of Madhya Pradesh and has served his ministry in Digvijay Singh’s cabinet. Arunoday’s grandfather, late Arjun Singh was the former CM of Madhya Pradesh during the 1980s.
Veteran leader of the Congress Party, former Defence Minister and Kerala’s former CM, AK Antony has been a notable figure in the Indian political diaspora. He has made some impeccable contributions in his field, and has successfully retired from the same as on May 2023. His youngest son, Ajith Antony did not follow his steps into politics and established himself as a notable actor of the Malayali film industry.
Eminent fashion designer, Siddhartha Tytler brought about a whole new change in the field of fashion with his impeccable talents. His unique masterpiece creation is liked and worn by many A-league actors in the film industry. For the unversed, Siddhartha is the son of former politician, Jagdish Tytler, who had been the Minister of State for Overseas Indian Affairs.
Bhumi Pednekar is one of the finest actresses of her generation and needs no introduction. She has been a part of quite a few blockbusters and rather non-conventional films, which have won her immense applause and critical appreciation. Many do not know that Bhumi’s father, late Satish Pednekar was a notable politician, and was a former Home and Labour Minister of Maharashtra.
