Eric Swalwell Apologises To Wife, Says He's No 'Saint', 'Those Mistakes Are Between Me And My Wife'

Eric Swalwell has been making headlines as several allegations have been heaped on him. His staffer and four other women accused Eric of sexual assault, which the Democratic congressman denied.

An unnamed woman, who is reportedly Eric Swalwell's staffer, accused him of sexually assaulting her twice. She alleged that she found herself in Eric's hotel with little memory of what had happened to her both times. While the allegations against Eric Swalwell have been doing the rounds on social media, a recent statement from him was also shared on his social media platform, where he not only denied the allegations against him but also extended apologies to his wife.

Eric Swalwell apologised to his wife amid sexual assault allegations

Eric Swalwell shared a video on his social media, wherein he addressed the allegations that were thrown at him. Eric, in the video, said that he thought people should hear it from him directly, while denying being involved in any sexual assault. He mentioned that nothing like this ever happened. He went on to add that he's not perfect and mentioned that he's 'no saint'.

Eric Swalwell said that he had made mistakes, but those had been between him and his wife, while apologising to Brittany Watts. He further apologised to his supporters and mentioned that they surely know who he is.

In the video, he went on to reveal that he has served as a city councilman, a member of Congress, and a prosecutor who went to the court on behalf of the victim, especially sexually assaulted victims, and that's who he has been through all these years. Eric stated that he is now focusing on spending time with his friends and family, while appreciating those who supported him. An excerpt from his statement reads:

"I do not suggest to you in any way that I'm perfect or that I'm a saint, I've certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past. But those mistakes are between me and my wife. And to her, I apologize deeply for putting her in this position. I also apologize to you if any way you have doubted your support for me. But I think you know who I am."

Unlike Eric Swalwell, his wife, Brittany, lives a private life. She completed her education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and grew up in a family with an extensive medical background. Both her parents were Indiana-based dentists, while she is a hospitality professional. Apart from that, Brittany has also worked as the director of sales at the Ritz-Carlton resort in Half Moon Bay, California. Speaking about Eric and Brittany's relationship, the couple reportedly met back in 2015 through mutual friends and started dating.
