Enamouring Italy

Italy, located on the edge of the Mediterranean, is one of the best places in the world to visit on a honeymoon. And perhaps no city in Italy combines its ancient grandeur with its vibrant and modern present as well as Florence.

Florence
Those who are interested in art, architecture or history will find a veritable treasure trove in Florence. Umbria, the oldest art gallery in the world, is located in Florence and contains the works of Old Masters like Raphael, Michelangelo & Da Vinci by the dozens. Florence is also the original birthplace of haute couture, so if you are interested in fashion, you can window shop till you drop. Prada, Gucci, Armani, Louis Vuitton...you will find them all here. In fact, Florence is paradise for fashionistas.

The Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast is the region of Italian coastline located south of Naples, and is one of the most charming and romantic regions of Italy. It contains the famous resort towns of Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. The weather and scenery here is just as spell binding as the much more glamorous (and expensive) Cote d’Azur in France, but there is a much more welcoming feel to this charming town since it is a small, tightly knit community.

And the beaches of Amalfi defy description...perfectly preserved jewels with crystal clear turquoise waters and white sand stretching for miles. Capri remains a favourite haunt of the glitterati & the jet set even today. You would find everyone from Paris Hilton to Princess Margaret sunning themselves on Capri’s beaches.

But if beaches are your thing, then Minori and Maiori is a must visit.  Not only are the beaches the best in the Amalfi Coast, the prices are rock bottom low (except during the peak season.)

Rome
No visit to Italy would be complete without a visit of Rome. Rome was the seat of power of the ancient Roman Empire during the days of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra over 2000 years ago, and signs of its ancient glory are still visible in ruins which litter the streets of Rome like so much confetti. Rome was the birthplace of the Renaissance during the medieval era, and museums house the works of old masters like Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Raphael and Michelangelo by the dozens. The nearby Vatican City, the seat of the Holy See, is a tourist magnet and a must visit even for non Christians because of the sheer weight and grandeur of history within its storied walls. But if you are not interested in art or architecture, then you will still find plenty of things to interest you. Rome is famous for its cuisine, and you will find as great a variety of restaurants and cafes lining its streets as in New York or London.
