Emraan Hashmi is returning to the big screens with Awarapan 2 in April 2026. Emraan's fans are waiting patiently for the return of 'Shivam Pandit' in the highly touted sequel. However, as the actor was filming Awarapan 2, he underwent major surgery after sustaining an abdominal tissue tear during an action sequence. However, the actor has bounced back to the sets after the major surgery, and his post-operation pictures have gone viral on social media.

According to a report by the India Today, Emraan Hashmi has not halted his shooting for Awarapan 2, despite the actor undergoing a major surgery. The report stated that Emraan has been shooting for the movie in Rajasthan even after suffering from an abdominal tissue tear because of which he had to be operated. The actor suffered the injury while performing an action sequence. Now, Emraan's pictures of what he looks like from the hospital have gone viral.

As seen in the snap, Emraan was seen standing shirtless with a bandage on his stomach. He also had what looked like an IV drip on his hand and looked pale. Emraan was seen posing with his hand kept on his waist, his ripped physique being shown. The report stated that Emraan did not want the schedule of Awarapan 2 to be affected. Doctors did advise him to take rest for a couple of days post the operation procedure. However, it seems like Emraan won't stop.

What can fans expect in Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2?

Awarapan was a story related to a gangster named, 'Shivam Pandit' played by Emraan who is mourning over the loss of his love, 'Aaliyah' played by Shriya Saran. Emraan's boss, 'Bharat Malik' played by Ashutosh Rana tells him to keep a watch on 'Reema' (Mrinalini Sharma). 'Bharat' wants 'Reema' to be dead as he finds she is cheating, and 'Shivam' saves her because his lover had taught him the importance of freedom. Earlier, in an interview with Zoom, Emraan spoke on the update of Awarapan 2, and said:

"It’s got crazy music, it’s got fantastic, intense scenes. I’m not telling you anything right now, you’ll discover it when you see the film. Awarapan has been in discussion for almost six years. There was a conversation earlier, pre-COVID, and I said, 'How can you bring back Shivam?' The finality of the film was where he apparently dies. So there have been ideas and I think we cracked something really good in 2022, when my friend Bilal came with the script, which fits and takes that brand ahead."

It was on March 24, 2025, when Emraan confirmed that Awarapan 2 is rolling as he released the film's teaser with a caption that read, "Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.” Fans eagerly want to know about the storyline of Awarapan 2, as Mohit Suri's directorial cult classic movie, released in 2007, gained love after many years. Speaking further of the sequel, Emraan said:

"It doesn’t just do it to capitalise on Awarapan or its cult following — which it has, by the way. I realise whenever I meet fans, they’re like, 'We love these films,' but Awarapan has had a visceral, profound reaction from the audience and a fan following that has grown over the years — almost eight years. People even have Awarapan tattoos on their arms and all that."
