On the first day of TwitchCon 2025, popular streamer and cosplayer Emiru faced a scary meetup when a fan tried to enter her personal space. During the meet and greet, a man got over the stage and tried to kiss her on the neck, which left her shaken, although her security team pulled that man away from her, and she left the stage. However, no official statement has been released by the police about the arrest of the man who exhibited this behavior with her on such a big platform.
Twitch responded to the incident with a statement, emphasising its commitment to attendee safety. The official statement included that the behaviour of the person involved in this was totally unacceptable and upsetting. Here’s what the statement includes:
"The safety and security of all those attending TwitchCon is our highest priority. "The behavior displayed by the individual involved in this incident was completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting. We immediately removed this individual from TwitchCon premises, and they are banned indefinitely from Twitch, both online and in-person events. Twitch has zero tolerance for harassment."
Mary Kish, who is the head of community at Twitch, also released a statement hours before the incident, emphasising the importance of educating streamers about harassment, particularly against women. She said it's essential to "make these spaces safe."

Earlier this year, on March 2, 2025, Emiru faced a similar kind of situation when she visited Los Angeles as a guest in a live-streaming marathon. The event was organised by fellow streamers, Valkyrae and Cinna, after they and the other streamers were targeted by a stalker. A man reportedly asked them and asked Emiru for her phone number. She refused the offer but offered to take a photo with him.
The man was stalking them, and he changed his clothes and approached them again, and after refusal, became aggressive and threatened to kill the streamers. They later ended the marathon early and contacted the police. Clips of the incident surfaced on the internet. Later, the streamer told their fans that they were well and explained how the situation left them shocked.
"I'm sorry for not saying anything sooner I've just been in shock. For those who don't know, I was streaming with Rae and Cinna last night, and a man asked for my phone number. I turned him down, and he started following our group and threatening to kill us."
The incident has sparked widespread anger among fans and streamers, with many calling for the man's arrest and questioning the effectiveness of TwitchCon’s security measures. Fans called the security at TwitchCon a ' complete joke.' Twitch users also asked if such big creators are not safe, how can common people feel safe? Some also commented on the safety of women in general and called the act shameful.
