Salman Khan hosted Bigg Boss 18 may have ended, but the drama related to the show has not yet ended. Chum Darang, who survived in the show till the end, is hogging the limelight after Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner, Elvish Yadav made a racist and derogatory comment about Chum on Rajat Dalal's podcast. He had made fun of her name on the podcast. However, now he has stated the backlash he has been getting from social media due to his racist statement.
Elvish received a lot of hate from the National Commission for Women (NCW), Chum's fans online when he passed cheap and racist comments against Chum. The NCW had taken cognizance of the offense made by Chum while he wrote on X that the full issue was falsely alleged on him. He claimed that his statement was taken in a misleading way. Elvish tweeted:
"A statement from my podcast is being taken out of context and presented in a misleading way. There was never any intention to target or insult anyone.I have always believed in respect and inclusivity, and those who know me understand that I have nothing but love for everyone. It’s unfortunate that a false narrative is being created, completely misrepresenting my words. This whole issue is based on false allegations of racism, which is simply not true."
Going further in the tweet, Elvish revealed that he had already removed the controversial statement from his podcast. He said it was misinterpreted and will clarify in his next vlog. Elvish concluded by mentioning that he has always been standing for positivity, and inclusivity and revealed he would continue to do the same. Well a promo video from Elvish's podcast had gone viral where he had made fun of Chum and said:
"Karanveer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai."
Chum, a while back had taken to her Instagram handle to post a story where she revealed that disrespecting someone's identity and name was not fun. Mocking someone’s achievements was not banter and it was time to draw the line between humour and hate. Chum, through her post, also addressed the people of the East to speak against racism and shared that respect was everyone's cup of tea. Chum shared that dignity and equality was the right of all. A part of her post also read:
"What’s even more disappointing is that this wasn’t just about my ethnicity, my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also disrespected."
What do you think of Elvish Yadav's statement of clarification against Chum Darang?
