Despite her high-profile relationship, it was Elizabeth’s grand wedding with Indian textile heir Arun Nayar in 2007 which garnered a lot of attention. The couple first got married at Sudeley Castle, Cotswolds, in the UK and then tied the knot at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Elizabeth Hurley and Indian textile heir Arun Nayar began dating in 2002, and five years later, on March 2, 2007, the couple tied the knot in England. Indian business tycoon, Arun Nayar and Elizabeth’s wedding liaison was a much-publicised event, of which Hello! Magazine bagged the rights. The couple’s second ceremony took place at the Umaid Bhawan Palace and lasted for eight days with over 200 guests.
Each guest was provided with a luxury suite at the fort, where they witnessed the colourful traditions of Rajasthan. The wedding festivities lasted for a week, and there were pre-wedding ceremonies like haldi and mehendi. High-profile guests like Hugh Grant, England footballer David Beckham and his wife Victoria reportedly attended the wedding.

A special dress code was kept for the guests as women wore pink sarees and kesariya safas for men. Male guests, including Tom Ford, donned vibrant jewelled turbans, while Trinny Woodall and Tania Bryer also wore sarees. A special gala dinner was arranged for the high-profile international guests at the palace. Rajasthani folk singers Manganiars and Langas enhanced the settings. Rajasthani folk dances like ghoomar and tehra taali were also a part of the festivities. Chefs from Britain prepared the food for the guests, and the cuisines included Indian, Mexican, Italian and Continental.
For the wedding day, Elizabeth looked nothing less than a perfect Indian bride in her crimson pink bridal lehenga, which had golden embroidery, and she teamed it with diamond jewellery. She was accompanied by her son Damian throughout the wedding. It was none other than the ace international designer, Donatella Versace, who designed Elizabeth’s wedding saree. Elizabeth complemented her look with a large pink diamond Chopard headpiece. Talking about her Indian bride look, Elizabeth told Hello magazine:
“Brides wear red or pink in India, and Donatella and I took ages choosing the exact shade of pink we wanted.”
Talking about the groom, Arun Nayer’s attire, he complemented his bride in an off-white sherwani with diamond-encrusted Indian jacket over it. Many of the other attires of the bride and groom for their pre-wedding functions were designed by ace designers, Rohit Bal and Tarun Tahiliani.
After the grand wedding, a huge procession of painted elephants, horses and camels was carried out through the grounds of Umaid Bhawan Palace. A grand reception dinner was hosted at the Meherangarh Fort, where the actress arrived on a velvet gondola throne, followed by fireworks marking the night eventful.
Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayer’s grand union was termed the 'Wedding of the Year'. The estimated cost of the couple’s eight-day-long celebration spanning Europe and India amounted to USD 2.5 million.
