Is Elaine Hendrix Returning To 'DWTS'? Hospitalized After Injury, Shares Update From Hospital Bed

Actress, Elaine Hendrix, best known for her role as ‘Meredith Blake’ in The Parent Trap, recently faced an unexpected setback during her run on Dancing With the Stars Season 34. The 53-year-old star was hospitalised after suffering a painful rib injury during rehearsals, leaving fans concerned about her health and future in the competition.

Elaine Hendrix gave an update about her health and return on Dancing With The Stars

The incident occurred while Elaine and her dance partner, Alan Bersten, were preparing their Argentine Tango routine to the classic rock hit Bad to the Bone for the show’s Halloween-themed episode. According to reports, Elaine suddenly felt intense pain mid-rehearsal, forcing her to stop dancing immediately. Later, she revealed that her “ribs just seized up” unexpectedly, causing severe discomfort. In a heartfelt update shared from her hospital bed, Elaine explained, “My ribs literally locked up, and I couldn’t move. I didn’t even know what was happening — I’ve never felt anything like it.” The actress appeared visibly emotional but grateful for the quick medical attention she received.

Despite missing the live performance, Elaine and Alan were still scored based on their last full rehearsal, which aired during the episode. The judges awarded the duo a score of 37, with Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and guest judge Flavor Flav. The judges also praised her commitment and performance level before the injury. Thanks to a combination of solid scores and fan support, the pair successfully avoided elimination that week.

Following her hospital visit, Elaine reassured her followers that she was recovering well and determined to return to the ballroom soon. “I’m tender, I’m sore, but I’m okay,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

Elaine Hendrix has a long-overdue passion for dance

Elaine has been candid about how Dancing With the Stars has reignited a lifelong passion she thought she’d lost. In a recent interview with Women’s Health published on October 7, 2025, she revealed that dancing was her first love, one she was forced to give up following a devastating car accident at age 21. She said:

“This really is genuinely a second chance, There have been so many times I thought, ‘Oh, I want to go find an adult dance class,’ and either I couldn’t find one, or it wasn’t close enough, or maybe I didn’t really have a strong enough intention — maybe some fear around going to do that.”

Now, decades later, the actress sees Dancing With the Stars as a full-circle moment, a chance to reconnect with the dream she once thought was gone forever. “This show has challenged me in every possible way,” she said. “And I’m just incredibly proud of how far I’ve come.” Production sources have confirmed that Elaine will return to rehearsals gradually, depending on her recovery. Her partner, Alan Bersten, also expressed optimism, saying the two share an 'unbreakable spirit' and can’t wait to perform again.

We wish Elina Hendrix a speedy recovery and wish to see her soon on Dancing With The Stars.
