Smriti Irani's Gesture For Ekta Kapoor's Son, Ravie Kapoor Makes Her The Most Loved 'Maasi'

Every child has that one person in the family, who plays the role of a godfather/godmother in their lives. During our childhood, when we considered our parents as our enemies, we always had that one person in the family, who played the role of our confidant. Ekta Kapoor and Smriti Irani’s friendship goes back from the time when the later starred as a lead actress, Tulsi Virani, in the serial, Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi. Their more than 18-year-old friendship grew stronger throughout the show which ran for more than a decade. Smriti became a household name when Ekta decided to give her an opportunity of a lifetime and had cast her in her serial, Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi. The show which ran for eight-and-a-half years brought immense popularity to Smriti and gave birth to a strong bond of friendship between Smiti and Ekta.

Ekta Kapoor had embraced motherhood through surrogacy on January 27, 2019, and became a mother to a baby boy, whom she named Ravie Kapoor. We have often seen how Ekta’s friends from the glamour world take their time out to visit Ravie and play with him. This time it was none other than the actress-turned-politician, Smriti Irani to join the bandwagon. We stumbled upon a recent video of Ravie Kapoor and Smriti Irani, where the latter gets indulged in some maasi duties.

 

 

In the video, Smriti Irani played the role of a perfect maasi to little Ravie while reciting poems and narrating stories to him. In an interview with News 18, Ekta had recalled her reaction when she got to know that she is going to be a mom. Sharing her emotions, Ekta had stated, “When I knew that the surrogate had conceived, and it was on June 7. On my birthday I got to know. I was a bit overwhelmed. I was like 'Okay this is happening. This is going to be a huge responsibility. I just wrote a show out which is going to be with an A-list Bollywood actress. It's called Mentalhood. It's about motherhood and every time we did the scripting about the Momzillas and the pressure you go through, the guilt you go through, tiger moms, helicopter moms, I was constantly feeling overwhelmed. But now I have realised that I have a lot of guilt even now.”

In an interview with journalist and film critic, Anupama Chopra for the chat show, On the Move, Ekta Kapoor had talked about a working mother’s guilt and had stated, “I have a lot of guilt even now. I don’t know how it just comes. I think the first thing you feel as a mother is guilt. I don’t think anyone will say that so openly. I am at work, I am feeling guilty; I am at home, there’s a lot of guilt that I am not completing a lot of things that I used to normally do. So, it’s like you are only dealing with various kinds of guilt.”

Ekta, who shares a very close bond with her nephew Laksshya, has often stated that after his birth, her life completely changed and she became a much better person. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Ekta had stated, “If there’s anything that’s most important in my life [now], then that’s Laksshya. Every day, he does something new and we all look forward to that. I miss him every time I’m travelling on work.
