Now, amid their messy divorce, Kevin has made some extremely serious allegations against his estranged wife. 

Rapper, Kevin Gates, and his wife, Dreka, started their relationship in 2003, eventually tying the knot in 2015. The bond lasted for over two decades despite their controversial familial bond. However, their relationship is back in the limelight, with Kevin accusing Dreka of stealing and lying about details of their marriage. Kevin and Dreka Gates started dating as teenagers

It was in 2003 when Kevin Gates and Dreka Gates started dating. According to the reports, the duo were teenagers at the time. Their relationship developed long before Kevin gained mainstream success in the music industry. However, over the years, Dreka has seemed to support the rapper from every high and low. They built a solid personal and professional partnership, including collaborating on Kevin's musical career and co-founding a record label together.

In an old interview from 2016, Dreka reflected on their relationship and shared that they had always been extremely close. During the conversation with The Source, she shared that she and Kevin Gates had a connection that felt "unusually close". She further added that the longest period they had gone without speaking to each other was three months. 

Kevin Gates and Dreka Gates tied the knot in 2015

The couple dated for over a decade before tying the knot on October 17, 2015. They soon welcomed two children. The couple welcomed a daughter, Islah Koren, on November 30, 2012. Kevin and Dreka Gates became parents again when they welcomed a baby boy, Khaza Kamil, on May 9, 2014. In a 2013 interview with Complex, Kevin spoke about fatherhood and privacy, stating:

"I got some children. I'm real real close with them. I lay in the bed with them, hold them, love them. It really doesn't make sense to say [how many kids I have]."

Kevin Gates and Dreka Gates are allegedly cousins

The rumours that Kevin Gates and Dreka Gates were related began in January 2015. It was after the rapper posted on Instagram that he found out the woman he had been dating for 3 months was his cousin that people started speculating he was related to Dreka. He revealed that it was his grandmother who pointed it out. However, they continued to date. The post was deleted soon after. While Kevin didn't mention who he was talking about, netizens assumed it was Dreka.

The speculations resurfaced in 2022 after Kevin replied that they were cousins in response to a comment that he and Dreka looked alike. In July the same year, Kevin once again fueled the rumours on Yung Miami's show, Caresha Please. When asked if he had slept with his cousin, he admitted that he had.

Once again, Kevin did not say that Dreka is his cousin. Nonetheless, his wife, being his cousin, is a rumour intensified by his jokes and his confession. In the same show, Yung Miami asked the rapper if the rumours of separation were true, and Kevin denied them instantly. He further addressed the speculations about Dreka cheating on him and stated: 

"That's my best friend, so no matter what, she's gonna be my best friend. I love this woman with everything in me. See, a lot of people like to take it and be like, well, cause of the Super General song... I never accused her of cheating on me in that song. If you listen to the song, I never said she cheated on me one time. That's my best friend." 

Kevin Gates and Dreka Gates' divorce drama

In January 2026, Kevin Gates shared a video giving an update on his and Dreka's ongoing divorce. In an Instagram video, the Grammy-nominated rapper spoke out about the situation. Kevin claimed that there was financial wrongdoing, criticised Dreka's public comments and denied accusations about his parenting. Kevin has also challenged Dreka's comment about their marital status. The rapper questioned her references to an "Islamic marriage" and asked her to clarify whether their union was legal or spiritual.

The rapper, who practices Islam, referenced his brief Nikah marriage to Brittany Renner in 2025 while still legally married to Dreka. Kevin Gates also addressed the claims about his role as a father and denied Dreka's allegations of him being a "deadbeat father," stating,
"My children have been living with me for the last two years." In the video, he also claimed that Dreka only filed for divorce after he stopped sending her money. He was quoted as saying:

"I challenge you to tell people that you didn't file for divorce until I stopped giving you money. It's time to tell the truth."

Kevin Gates' 52-day marriage to Brittany Renner

According to reports, Kevin Gates married Brittany Renner in accordance with Islamic rituals on April 6, 2025. However, he was still legally married to Dreka at the time, and since religious marriages are not recognised by US law, he was still legally Dreka's husband. While things fell apart for Dreka and Kevin, Brittany also told Real 92.3 LA that they had divorced only 52 days after their marriage.
