Dr. Shama Mohamed Who Body Shamed Rohit Sharma Cries, Shares, 'Ghar Se Bahar Nai Jaa Sakti..'

Rohit Sharma is one of the main stalwarts of Indian cricket. Whenever he plays a match, his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, sits with her fingers crossed while fans pray and hoot for his victory. The Indian cricket team captain tasted a similar victory on March 2, 2025, when India defeated New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy. However, Rohit's bat could not make a big inning. Amid this, Dr Shama Mohamed, a leader from the Congress party, fat-shamed the cricketer in her now-deleted tweet. Now, a video has gone viral where Shama was seen crying profusely, looking scared, and revealing that she couldn't leave her home.

India has been on a winning streak in the ICC Champions Trophy till now. After India won against New Zealand in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, Shama fat-shamed Rohit and also took a dig at his captaincy. She was brutally slammed on social media, which forced her to delete the tweet. Now, a video has been doing rounds where Shama was seen crying after being criticised for calling Rohit overweight.  She was heard saying:

"Mei mere ghar se bahar nai ja sakti hu. Mei bass bol rahi hu kisi ke fitness ke bare mei bass uske fitness ke bare meio bola. Etni badi baat. I only spoke about his fitness."

For the unversed, Rohit was called names like 'Vada Pav' after India lost the 2023 World Cup. The cricketer always had the pressure of winning for the nation and to hold the head high. Dr. Shama's tweet on Rohit came at the moment when India was performing well on the field.

When Dr. Shama Mohamed justified her tweet on Rohit Sharma

Shama had earlier defended herself and revealed in an interview with the ANI that she tweeted about the fitness of a sportsperson, not to body-shame him. She always believed that athletes should be fit, and she felt that he was a bit overweight. Shama defended her comments and shared:

"It was a generic tweet. What’s wrong in saying this? This is a democracy. It was a generic tweet about the fitness of a sportsperson. It was not body-shaming. I always believed a sportsperson should be fit, and I felt he was a bit overweight, so I just tweeted about that. I have been attacked for no reason. When I compared him with previous captains, I put in a statement. I have the right. What is wrong in saying?"

When did Dr. Shama Mohamed make the fat shaming comment on Rohit Sharma?

Shama's comments came at a time when Rohit only made 15 runs off 17 balls when the India VS Zealand match happened. India tasted victory by 44 runs, and despite achieving success, Shama made a comment about Rohit's performance and called him a mediocre player. Although the Congress Party kept a safe distance from her remarks and clarified that Shama's views did not represent the stance of the party. She was told to exercise caution and was told to delete her post.
