It is a great time to sport all those gorgeous sandals lining the shelves at the store. Baring your toes does not mean that you have to splurge on a luxurious pedicure. You can get one in the comfort of your home at a fraction of the price you will pay at the spa. Create a relaxing area with a few candles and gather the required tools and primp and prep your feet at home. Here’s how.
Be Your Own Nail Expert

Begin by preparing your own foot soak. In a basin filled with warm water, add salt (Epsom or sea salt works well but if you can get your hands on Himalayan pink salt, it would be great as it is one of the best detox agents), squeeze a lemon and add a drop or two of extra virgin olive oil. Other essential oils or Dead Sea salts can be used as well. Soak your feet in this basin for a while. This helps hydrate your skin and also helps you relax. You can even try some of the foot soaks available in the market.
Next is exfoliation time and you can make your own exfoliator by adding raw sugar to your favorite moisturizer. Massage the scrub firmly and use a pumice stone to clean areas which experience the most wear and tear – your heels and the big toes. Once you have done this you can remove your feet from the basin. You are likely to find it soft and ready to push back the cuticles on your toenails. But don’t push them back too much because they tend to attach the skin to the nail plate. This is also a good time to cut and shape your nails. Ensure that you have wiped all the tools you use with alcohol.
Get Your Feet Sandal Ready
It’s time for an intense moisturizer blast once you have cleaned and trimmed your nails. Following that you can apply your favorite shade of nail polish. Use a nail separator to spread your toes and also apply a base coat before you apply the nail polish of your choice. Start with a stroke in the center and then move on to either side while you apply the nail polish. Finish with a top coat and allow the paint to dry before you step out. Flaunt your pretty feet with a pair of great looking sandals. Frequent trips to the beauty salon to keep your feet happy may not always be possible. Use these simple easy to get ingredients and treat yourself to a pedicure in the comfort of your own home.
