Divya Dutta Reveals She Got Kidnapping Threat During Punjab Insurgency In '80s, 'Aisa Khat Bheja..'

Divya Dutta Reveals She Got Kidnapping Threat During Punjab Insurgency In '80s, 'Aisa Khat Bheja..'

We often think that celebrities live a comfortable and shielded life without facing any challenges, unlike the common people. But, now and then, many actors who come from humble backgrounds or small towns share some unknown anecdotes which remind us how even actors go through traumatic experiences before they found fame. Recently, one actress who shared a shocking experience from her life was Divya Dutta. Known for her work in Badlapur, Veer-Zaara and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the actress recalled how she got kidnapping threats during the Punjab insurgency in the 1980s. 

Divya Dutta reveals some people sent threatening letters to their homes in the 1980s

Divya Dutta hails from the Ludhiana region in Punjab, where she and her brother were raised by her mother after her father passed away during her childhood. She often shares some interesting memories from her childhood, and recently, the actress, in an interview with Hindi Rush, recalled some difficult memories from the past. Divya recalled how she used to live in Punjab with her family when the state experienced the dark phase of insurgency in the 1980s. She revealed that during those times, some local people tried to take advantage of the situation and sent threats about kidnapping at their homes. In her words:

 "Uss time pe joh insurgency thi, kuch log local hote the apne jaan pehchaan wale. Woh bhi kuch mauko ka fayda uthate hai. Har jagah aisa hota hai. Unhone aisa khat bheja tha ghar par.”

Divya added that despite the challenges, the local support in small towns is strong. So, everyone helped them deal with the situation and ensured their safety. Moreover, later, it was revealed that a fraudster sent the letter. But, still, the local community came to help her which didn't let them feel that they were alone in a problem. Recalling the memories, Divya said:

"I still remember how people came and helped us at that time. When you're alone but don't feel alone, that's the beauty of a wonderful neighbourhood. The beauty of a small town is that all your relatives live nearby. My mother was alone, but everyone stood by her. That was a beautiful feeling."

Divya Dutta shared that her mom gave her the strength to fly and achieve her dreams

Divya Dutta has never shied away from acknowledging how her mother, who was a government officer and doctor, raised her alone. In an interview with the Times Of India, she explained that despite the uncertainty in the acting field, her mother always supported her in pursuing her dreams. Divya fondly recalled that her mom asked her to go and fly and reminded her that if she ever fell, she would have her back, which gave her the strength to carve a successful career for herself.

Divya Dutta was last seen playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's wife, 'Soyarabai', in Chhaava, co-starring Vicky Kausal and Rashmika Mandanna. As per some news reports, she would next be seen in a film titled, Nastik.
