In her career of just 3 years, she had acted in 21 movies, it is said that she had 30 films lined up for her. Divya and Sajid Nadiadwala had met each other for the first time when she was working with Govinda in the movie, Shola Aur Shabnam. For Sajid, it was love at first sight as he was bowled by her beauty.

While Divya Bharti and Sajid Nadiadwala’s love story is known to all now, there was a time, when she had kept it a secret from her father for a few months. In a throwback interview with Bollywood Hungama, Divya’s mother, Meeta Bharti recalled how her father, Om Prakash Bharti had come to know about the actress’ wedding months after it. Sharing how Divya’s father was against her marriage plans with Sajid, her mother had said:
"Sajid used to visit Govinda on the sets of Shola Aur Shabnam for his dates, and he was introduced to Divya. The very day, she asked me, 'Mom, what do you think about Sajid?' I said I found him nice. After some days, she asked me if she could marry Sajid. I told her she should ask her father. And her father was against it. He had his own notions, and opposed the idea. Once Divya turned 18, one day she called me to tell me that she was marrying Sajid the very day, and wanted me to sign as one of the witnesses. But I told her I would not be able to come unless she informed her father about it."
After getting married to Sajid Nadiadwala, Divya Bharti had continued to live with her parents, meeting him occasionally. Divya’s father had no idea that she had married Sajid without his consent. After a few months of their wedding, it was Sajid, who had visited Divya’s family for Diwali and had announced their wedding. However, Divya and Sajid could not enjoy their married life for a long time as she got married at the age of 18 and had breathed her last at the age of 19.
