Diljit Dosanjh Addresses 'Sardaar Ji 3' Row, ' Film Shot In February, Matches Were Being Played'

Popular Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh recently spoke about the Pahalgam terror attack and the controversy surrounding his latest Punjabi movie, Sardaarji 3, which starred Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir. Diljit also spoke about the India-Pakistan match at his Malaysia concert and clarified many things related to the controversy surrounding him and the film. There have been videos about him saluting the National Flag, which have been widely circulated on social media.

Diljit Dosanjh clarifies that Sardaar Ji 3 movie was shot before the Pahalgam attack

Diljit was in Malaysia performing when on the stage he clarified that the movie was shot before the Pahalgam attack. Diljit shared that the India-Pakistan match was going on in India when his film was being shot. He saluted the National flag and took permission from his fans to address a few things. He started off by saying that strict punishment needed to be given to the te**oists who did the Pahalgam attack. Diljit shared:

"Woh mere desh da jhanda hai (That's my country's flag). Always respect. When my film Sardaarji 3 was shot in February, the matches were being played. After that, the tragic Pahalgam terror attack happened. At that time, and even now, we have always prayed that the terrorists should receive strict punishment. The difference is that my film was shot before the attack, and the match was played after the attack."

Diljit also took a dig at the media and shared that the national media had tried to portray him as an anti-national, but the Punjabi and the Sikh clan could never go against the country. Diljit conveyed that he had a lot to say but he kept it all within himself ever since his film, Sardaar Ji 3 touted controversy. It was on September 14, 2025, when India and Pakistan battled a faceoff on the cricket ground. India emerged victorious, clinched the winning trophy, but did not shake hands with Pakistan.

India and Pakistan recently faced off on the cricket pitch on September 14 for the Asia Cup. India won the match but refused to greet the opponents. India did clinch the trophy, but did not exchange greetings with Pakistan. For the unversed, the singer was slammed for working with Pakistani actress, Hania in the film amid the tensions that were going on between India and Pakistan. Diljit on maintaining a stoic silence related to the controversy shared:

"I have many answers, but I kept quiet, kept everything inside me. I didn't speak. I have many answers. Whoever tells you anything, you shouldn't take that poison inside you. I have learned that from life. So I didn't say anything. There are a lot of things more to say, but I don't want to do that, I don't want to do that s***.”

Sardaar Ji 3 controversy

Sardaar Ji 3 also had Neeru Bajwa, Gulshan Grover, and Sapna Pabbi among others. The film was directed by Amar Hundal and was released overseas on June 27, 2025. The movie in order to avoid controversy also skipped a theatrical release in India but had a global release overseas. The makers made the announcement two months post the deadly te**oist attack that took place in Jammu Kashmir's Pahalgam back on April 22, 2025.
