Dilip Kumar was the dream man of every woman in the '60s. His charming personality had captivated the hearts of millions. And among his million fans was Saira Banu, who was head-over-heels in love with him from the age of 12. Saira Banu was 22 when she had gotten married to a 44-year-old Dilip Kumar. With an age gap of 22 years, the duo had gotten married on October 11, 1966.
Veteran actor, Dilip Kumar breathed his last on July 7, 2021, at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital. At the age of 98, the actor passed away due to prolonged illness. Dilip Kumar’s family friend, Faisal Farooqui confirmed the news through a tweet on the actor's Twitter handle. The tweet can be read as "With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. – Faisal Farooqui."

According to a tweet from ANI on the Twitter, legendary actor, Dilip Kumar's funeral will take place today at 5 p.m. at the Juhu Kabrastan in the presence of his loved ones. A lot of A-list actors and actresses have gathered at his residence to pay their respects and support his wife and actress, Saira Banu.

The pictures posted by ANI also confirmed the ongoing reports about Dilip Kumar's mortal remains being draped in tricolour as per State honour. The tweet can be read as "Veteran actor Dilip Kumar's family, friends gather at his residence ahead of his State funeral, which will be held today at 5 p.m. in Santacruz, Mumbai. The actor passed away this morning at the age of 98." Soon, a video of the same was posted by entertainment journalist, Viral Bhayani on his IG handle, in which we can get a close glimpse of Dilip saab's funeral.
A few hours ago, Dilip Kumar's pulmonologist, Dr Jalil Parkar announced the veteran's demise and revealed that Saira Banu told the doctor that there is no reason left behind her existence now. She said, "God snatched away my reason for living. Without Sahab, I won't be able to think about anything. Everyone, please pray."
The veteran actor was admitted to the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai on June 30, 2021, after he had complained of breathlessness. His pulmonologist, Dr Jalil Parkar, had spoken to PTI and had stated that "He passed away due to prolonged illness at 7:30 a.m. Dilip Kumar will be buried at Mumbai's Juhu Kabristan in Santacruz, in the evening."
His doctor shared the details of his recurring illness and said that the veteran actor was suffering from advanced prostate cancer that had affected other organs of his body. A report of the Indian Express quoted the doctor saying, "He had water in the pleural cavity, and he suffered kidney failure. He required blood transfusion multiple times. We carried out the last transfusion, but it did not help."
