Mollywood has repeatedly proved that there is no genre it cannot excel in. The latest release, Dies Irae, is the perfect example of the same. Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, the film stars Pranav Mohanlal in the titular role and is a perfect pick for Halloween night. The film, released on October 31, 2025, opened to tremendous reviews.
Dies Irae is the Latin title, meaning the day of wrath, which is the latest horror flick to make headlines. The film follows a wealthy young man, named Rohan, played by Pranav Mohanlal, who leads a glamorous life. Rohan’s life takes a complete U-turn when he starts experiencing eerie things in his home.

With the door’s creaking noise, whispers lingering and unusual events, Rohan gets convinced that a supernatural entity is haunting his home. As Rohan begins to uncover the mystery surrounding him and his home, he is pulled into eerie realms, strange alliances, and unimaginable horrors. The film reveals many mysterious elements, spooking the audience to the core.

With a runtime of 115 minutes, Dies Irae manages to hook the audience to their seats with its intense storytelling. In addition to Pranav Mohanlal, the film features power-packed performances by Arun Ajikumar, Jaya Kurup, and Jibin Gopinath. Each and every character adds layers to the story’s unsettling world. Christo Xavier’s music heightens the fear and mystery surrounding the plot.

The film opened to excellent reviews from critics and fans. It is Pranav Mohanlal’s intense performance that took the story to greater heights. Many described the film as Pranav Mohanlal’s ‘career-best’. One of the users wrote, “Dies Irae marks @impranavlal thunderous rise ..he’s haunting, magnetic, and here to stay. A diabolically poetic Malayalam horror drenched in theological dread, visually sacramental and intellectually vicious. #diesirae #Mohanlal.”
