Kajol and Twinkle Khanna-hosted Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle is back with its third episode, and it's got the internet abuzz again. The episode featured Twinkle's husband, Akshay Kumar's first joint appearance with Saif Ali Khan. The Bollywood hunks brought 'wild stories, awkward confessions and unstoppable banter' to the table, as described by Prime Video. Saif shared insights into his relationship with his wife, Kareena Kapoor, and how it was drastically different from that of his parents, Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
According to Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor tested him before deciding to spend the rest of her life with him. He recalled their early dating days, during the Tashan era, when Kareena would throw random questions at him, and termed it 'test meets interview'. Saif shared in Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle, that when he and Kareena went on long walks in Ladakh, she would ask probing questions about his views on love and relationships. The inquisitions were deep and personal, probably to gauge their compatibility. Saif had to deal with those 'very old-fashioned' Q&A sessions with Kareena before they finally decided to get married. He shared:
"When I went to Ladakh, we used to go for these long walks, and she'd ask me a lot of questions, which were kind of a test meets interview. Like, what is your view on love? This kind of went on for a while. It was very old-fashioned."
Upon hearing Saif's test interview anecdote, Akshay Kumar couldn't help but jump into the conversation. He said that he and his wife, Twinkle Khanna were total opposites of Saif and Kareena. He referred to Twinkle as 'fire' and himself as 'water', depicting a perfectly balanced relationship. He might have meant that Kareena made Saif talk a lot, to get an idea about his views on various things, while in Akshay's case, he was an avid listener, whereas Twinkle was the one who did most of the talking.
Akshay shared that his wife 'says whatever she wants to' while he tries to listen to her and keep his calm. It seemed very relatable to Saif as he chimed in with an enthusiastic 'I know what it feels like' reaction. He mentioned that his parents shared precisely the same dynamics as Akshay and Twinkle– Sharmila Tagore scolded Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and he never said anything in his defence. Quoting what his father told him back then, Saif stated:
"I just think about playing cricket or something during the argument. I don't say anything."
Even after passing Kareena's tests, Saif's life wasn't smooth. His and Kareena's marriage had generated a stir on the internet, but for all the wrong reasons. In a recent interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Soha Ali Khan recalled the significant backlash her brother, Saif Ali Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor, faced due to their interfaith marriage in 2012. She mentioned that the couple and their family received death threats and were targeted with terms like 'love jihad' and 'ghar wapsi'. Soha noted that the societal intolerance was similar to what her parents, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore, experienced during their interfaith marriage in the 1960s.
