Annie Hall's fame Diane Keaton remained unmarried due to her mother

Diane passed away at the age of 79, and throughout her life, she remained unmarried. Thought she had a great on-screen chemistry with stars like Al Pacino and Woody Allen and buzz of her relationship with them used to make headlines, Diane never really took the plunge or decided to walk down the aisle.

Diane strongly believed that marriage could hamper her independence, and the decision was fuelled by seeing her mother compromise on her own dreams. Once, Diane opened up about not getting married due to her mother, during her interaction with Interview Magazine, Diane said:

"I feel like my mother chose family over her dreams. She was the best mother, but I think she’s the reason I didn’t get married. I didn’t want to give up my independence."
