'Dhurandhar' Ending Explained, What Happens To Ranveer Singh's 'Hamza' As Film Ends In Cliffhanger?

Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and written and directed by Aditya Dhar, has been making headlines since its teaser was first dropped in July 2025. Months later, as the film has finally hit the cinemas, the intense spy thriller has proven that it was worth the hype. Moreover, to the audience's surprise, the end credit scenes revealed that Dhurandar Part 2 is also in the works. But what exactly happened to the protagonist, 'Hamza', before the credits rolled? Here's the ending of Dhurandhar explained. 

Dhurandhar plot line

At its core, Dhurandhar is a spy thriller revolving around the elusive protagonist, 'Hamza', and his dangerous mission in Karachi, Pakistan. Played by Ranveer Singh, 'Hamza' has been sent by the India intelligence to dismantle terror units in the neighbouring nation. This leads to the beginning of 'Operation Dhurandhar'. Nothing much is known about the spy, 'Hamza Ali Mazari', however, with a dialogue, the film states that people who are either awaiting the death penalty or have nothing in their life to live for are chosen as spies for such dangerous missions. 

Dhurandhar ending and climax scene

Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film boasts a stellar starcast who play complex and grey characters. However, the main antagonist for Dhurandhar is revealed to be 'Rehman Dakait', played by Akshaye Khanna. 'Hamza' earns the trust of 'Rehman', all while plotting to eliminate him with the help of Sanjay Dutt's 'SP Chaudhry Aslam'. After 'Rahman' gets injured by the SP, 'Hamza' takes him to the hospital, but then kills him. Then he comes back home to 'Yaalina', played by Sara Arjun, and has an emotional breakdown in front of her, showcasing a more vulnerable side of himself. 

However, the real twist comes at the very end of the movie. Although 'Rehman' has been eliminated, 'Hamza' isn't done in Karachi. In the middle of the night, he is seen perusing his secret diary, given to him by another spy. The diary has texts written on it with invisible ink. The first page reveals the name of 'Rehman Dakait', which 'Hamza' crosses out. Then, more names are shown, especially 'Major Iqbal of ISI', portrayed by Arjun Rampal. With this, the audience is given a surprise that Dhurandhar will have more instalments. The upcoming movies will show Ranveer Singh's character eradicating different antagonists with each film. 

Dhurandhar 2 release details 

After this cliffhanger ending of Dhurandhar, people are anticipating seeing what the second movie will entail. It seems fans won't have to wait long since following the first part, the second installment will be released within a few months. Dhurandhar 2's release date has been announced as March 19, 2026. As per reports, the March 2026 will be an exciting month for action film lovers as the Dhurandhar 2 will be clashing with Yash's Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown Ups. While Dhurandhar 2 is anticipating a successful Eid 2026 release, the Kannada film, Toxic, is looking forward to an Ugadi 2026 opening day.
