Dharmendra's Sweet Gesture For Hema Malini During Her Delivery, 'Nobody Knew Hema Was Pregnant'

Hema Malini and Dharmendra were Bollywood's evergreen couple. They were so much in love with each other that they broke all the norms of the society. He was already married to Prakash Kaur and she was aware about it. Despite his marital status, he fell in love with the charming actress. Dharmendra had four children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, and Ajeeta from his first marriage.

Despite knowing that her husband has fallen for Hema, Prakash refused a divorce from Dharmendra and he too didn’t want to abandon his first wife and their children. To culminate their love into marriage, Hema and Dharmendra reportedly converted to Islam and got married. The duo became parents to Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Dharmendra booked the entire hospital during Hema Malini’s delivery

Hema Malini and Dharmendra didn’t announce the news of her first pregnancy to anyone and only close family and friends knew about it. And the doting husband he was, Dharmendra went on to book the entire hospital for Hema when she was supposed to deliver Esha. Hema’s friend, Neetu Kohli revealed the same in an episode of the talk show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, and said:

"When Esha was going to be born, nobody knew that Hema was pregnant so Dharam ji had booked the whole hospital for Esha. It was a nursing home with about 100 rooms. He booked all the 100 rooms for Esha to be born. No one knew that this is what Dharam ji had done.”

Dharmendra and Hema had acted together in 42 movies and their on-screen chemistry was always a hit. In an interview, Hema Malini had said that it was the song, Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana, wherein she had fallen for Dharmendra. She also revealed that it was his cute dance moves in the song, which had made her fall in love with him immediately. It was rumoured while shooting a particular scene in Sholay; that Dharmendra had lured the light boys with money to disturb the lights on the set. The continuous retakes had given him many chances to hold Hema Malini several times.

It was on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawan when Dharmendra fell madly in love with Hema Malini. After tying the knot with Hema, Dharmendra bought a home for Hema, where she lived with her daughters, Esha Deol and Ahaana Deol. However, his first wife, Prakash Kaur lives in Dharmendra’s paternal house along with Sunny Deol and his family.
