Dhanush Wins Court Battle Against Nayanthara In Their Copyright Row Over Netflix Documentary

Nayanthara is a famous actress in the entertainment world, whose acting skills never skip a chance to leave everyone in a collective meltdown. Hailed as the 'lady superstar', Nayanthara made it to the headlines as she openly bashed Dhanush through an open letter for suing her for Rs. 10 crore as she used a 3 second BTS clip from the actor's movie in her Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. 

Dhanush wins court battle against Nayanthara

Amid this ongoing legal tassel, Netflix petitioned the Madras High Court to dismiss Dhanush's copyright lawsuit against the actress. Well, it's Dhanush who won the same. Reportedly, the Madras High Court dismissed Netflix's plea to take out the copyright lawsuit that Dhanush had against Nayanthara. For the unversed, Nayanthara used a clip of the movie, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which Dhanush produced. Dhanush has sued Nayanthara and the makers of her documentary for using the clip without his permission. Reportedly, Dhanush warned Nayanthara and Vignesh about the clip and asked them and the makers to remove the clip within the limited time frame that he had given them, and mentioned that he would move to the court if they wouldn't comply with the same.

When Nayanthara bashed Dhanush for filing a Rs. 10 crore lawsuit against her

It was back in November 2024, when Nayanthara took to her IG handle and shared an open letter, wherein she called out Dhanush for suing her for Rs. 10 crore. In her note, she shared how for two years, she has been chasing Dhanush to obtain a clip from the movie, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan to use in her upcoming documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. Nayanthara stated that when she faced several refusals from Dhanush, she used a three-second BTS clip from his movie in her documentary, for which she was sued by the actor for Rs. 10 crore.

In her 3-page open letter, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of being the reason her documentary's release got delayed, which not only affected her but everyone who was involved with the same. She also mentioned that someone, who has a strong position like Dhanush in the industry should consider the struggle the actresses in her position had to face, which she too had to go through to make herself stand where she's now. She further remarked how it came as a shock to her when Dhanush sent her a legal notice, despite being indecisive for so long deliberately.

Nayanthara shared why she penned an open letter to Dhanush

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nayanthara talked about writing an open letter to Dhanush. She stated that it was courage, and she didn't have anything to fear as she was not fabricating anything. Nayanthara further claimed that if she hadn't spoken up this time when things had stretched too far, then she could never stand up for herself.
