Demi Moore's Love Life: First Marriage At 18 With Freddy Moore To Dating Ashton Kutcher And More

Demi Moore is one of the most beloved American actresses in Hollywood. She made her film debut with the 1981 movie, Choices, where she played the protagonist's girlfriend. However, it wasn't until the '90s that Demi began to gain wider recognition, especially after she starred in the hit supernatural romantic melodrama, Ghost, which was the highest-grossing film of 1990.  

It is worth noting that Demi Moore took a brief hiatus from acting after 1997 to focus on raising her daughters. After her comeback, some of Demi's most notable projects include Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003), Margin Call (2011), and Songbird (2020), among others. Well, currently, the actress has been hogging the spotlight not for one of her acting chops but for her nearly unrecognisable makeover after she stepped out during Milan Fashion Week by sporting a wet-look bob. So, with Demi Moore the talk of the town once again, let's take a look back at her dating history over the years.  

Demi Moore married Freddy Moore when she was just 18 

In 1981, when Demi Moore was only 18 years old, she married her first husband, musician, Freddy Moore. During the time they spent together, Demi and Freddy co-wrote a song called It's Not a Rumour. According to PR Newswire, Freddy went on and recorded the song with his band, The Nu Kats. In a 2013 interview, he explained how he convinced his then-wife to co-write the song, stating: 

“I was trying to get [Demi] to get into the creativity. I said, ‘Why don’t you try to write some lyrics or something to the song. So we got to the last verse, and she made up a couple of words, and I said, ‘Okay great, you actually co-wrote a song.’” 

Apparently, Demi also starred in the song's accompanying music video. A few years later, Demi Moore and Freddy Moore ended up divorcing in 1985. However, despite this, as you might already know, Demi chose to keep his last name. In August 2022, Freddy passed away at the age of 72.  

Demi Moore and Jon Cryer had a brief relationship  

In 1984, Demi Moore began dating her No Small Affair co-star, Jon Cryer. While their relationship did not last for long, Demi did talk about it in her 2019 memoir, Inside Out. She shared that just like their characters were falling in love on the screen, Jon too fell for her in real life. 

Demi Moore was engaged to her St. Elmo's Fire co-star, Emilio Estevez 

Demi Moore had another brief relationship, this time with her St. Elmo's Fire co-star, Emilio Estevez. Interestingly, the duo also got engaged in 1985. While many believed they met for the first time during the filming of St. Elmo's Fire, Emilio told The Washington Post that he and Demi had already “known each other for a long time,” even before the shooting of their movie began.

In her memoir, Demi confessed that at the time they got engaged after only 6 months of dating. One of the main reasons she got engaged to Emilio was that she thought his family, especially his brother, Charlie Sheen, and his father, Martin Sheen, were a “good influence” on her. Demi further mentioned that she postponed her wedding to Emilo after she found out the actor had cheated on her with an ex-girlfriend.  

Demi Moore married and welcomed three daughters with Bruce Willis  

Demi Moore gave marriage a second chance when she tied the knot with Bruce Willis. Demi and Bruce met for the first time in 1987 at the premiere of the action film, Stakeout, which starred her then fiancé, Emilio. It is worth noting that their engagement was postponed at the time. Well, within just a few weeks of their initial meeting, Demi and Willis began officially dating. According to Demi's memoir, four months later, on November 21, 1987, she and Bruce Willis got married in a Las Vegas ceremony.

Since they had their first wedding on a whim, they got married a second time in the presence of their friends and family. During their marriage, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis welcomed three daughters together – Rumer Willis, Scout Willis, and Tallulah Willis. After 13 years of marital bliss, Demi and Bruce finalised their divorce in 2000.  

Demi Moore had a low-key relationship with Oliver Whitcomb 

After Demi and Bruce Willis split up, the actress began dating Oliver Whitcomb while living in Hailey, Idaho. If reports are believed to be true, Oliver was a martial arts instructor, and the couple dated for at least 2 years before they broke up. Demi and Oliver kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight, though in November 2000, Demi hosted an opening event for Gateway Building, her boyfriend's holistic health and martial arts centre in Hailey.  

Demi Moore dated Ashton Kutcher, 15 years her junior 

According to Demi's memoir, she met actor, Ashton Kutcher in the spring of 2003. The place of their first meeting was actually a hotel room just before they were going to have dinner with friends. Demi recalled the time and wrote that “it was like nobody else was there” and that “they stayed up the entire night, still talking, telling each other our life stories.” 

It is worth noting that when they began dating, Demi and Ashton had an age gap of 15 years, with the Songbird actress being 40 and Ashton being 25. Irrespective of their significant age difference, Ashton and Demi remained together for 8 years. To mention, the couple got married in their Beverly Hills home on September 24, 2005. After 6 years of marital bliss, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore finalised their divorce in 2011.  

Later, Demi Moore was rumoured to be dating restaurateur, Harry Morton in 2013 and was linked to Dead Sara drummer, Sean Friday in 2014. Demi Moore's last known relationship was with Swiss restaurateur, Daniel Humm in 2022.
