Delhi’s Chandrika Gera Dixit, better known as 'Vada Pav Girl', has been selling the popular Maharashtrian street food in the country's capital for quite some time. She garnered immense attention on social media after several online content creators shared about her entrepreneurial journey on their respective pages. At present, Chandrika has been in the headlines for a controversy. According to several reports, Chandrika has been arrested by Delhi Police for organising a bhandara without permission.
On April 30, 2024, a video went viral on the internet, showing Chandrika being taken away by the police in a dramatic turn of events. In the video, people could be seen fighting with the cops as they were taking away the controversial seller. She reportedly had organised a bhandara on the roads of the Pitampura area of Delhi to celebrate her son's birthday. However, this did not go down well with the residents, who protested against her for blocking a busy road. Hence, the police came to the scene and took charge of the situation.

Meanwhile, on May 3, 2024, the Delhi police responded to the viral videos and shared that she was not arrested. They also revealed that no case was registered against Chandrika. The police also mentioned that the seller had not taken any permission from the city's municipal corporation to run her stall, and the crowd which gathered in the area created a ruckus. They further added that the large number of people in the area also impacted the traffic.
After the Delhi Police received complaints from the residents of the area, they took action. According to the police, when they reached the location, Chandrika misbehaved with the officials. Hence, her stall was seized, and she was then taken to the police station.

Chandrika Dixit quit her job in Haldiram and opened her own vada pav stall in Delhi's Sainik Vihar, which she named 'Mumbai Ka Famous Vada Pav'. The social media sensation started the stall when her son got ill. Chandrika and her husband had to quit their jobs to take care of their son, and they later started the stall.
