Netflix's popular show, Delhi Crime is all set to return with its third season on November 13, 2025. While Shefali Shah would be returning as the fierce and determined 'DCP Vartika Chaturvedi', this season also stars Huma Qureshi as 'Badi Didi'. Well, what is different this time is that season 3 may not be purely fictional. Recently, the director, Tanuj Chopra revealed that Delhi Crime Season 3 is inspired by a real life case.
Recently, the director of Delhi Crime Season 3, Tanuj Chopra sat down for a candid conversation with Firstpost, during which he revealed that this time, the show is inspired by the 2012 case of Baby Falak. He also explained that even though, the core story is based on a true incident, there are fictional moments as well. He was quoted as saying:
"You have to add a lot more to the original source material to make it work on the digital platform. Here we got the case, the baby Falak case where a fourteen-year-old girl in Delhi brings a baby to the hospital with bruises all over her. Over the course of the treatment, cops realise that the young girl is not the mother. The police force then begin their search for the mother. Then they realise that there is a big trafficking ring."

During the same interview with Firstpost, Tanuj Chopra also opened up about the responsibility he has as a filmmaker, especially while working on a real-life story. Regarding the same, he revealed that he has felt a lot of pressure while working on the show, Delhi Crime, which has its own legacy. In his words:
"The responsibility, the story, the franchise, the legacy. There’s always a pressure when it comes to Delhi Crime, especially the lenses of the social commentary that we put. I feel built for it as a filmmaker."

He further continued to talk about his approach while filming the Netflix show, Delhi Crime. He explained that he has always tried to work on meaningful projects. He also shared that even though a director has a vision, they need to leave it and focus on showing the truth to the audience in a fearless manner. He shared:
"As a filmmaker, I always try to represent issues that are meaningful. More than that you always have to work without fear, and directors also have their versions of being terrified. You have to let it go and start shooting and look for the truth. You keep trying things and push far by using all your tools. You never really know when you get it right. You have to proceed with an open heart and a lot of research."

Delhi Crime Season 3 will be released on November 13, 2025, only on Netflix, starring Shefali Shah, Huma Qureshi, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Sayani Gupta and Mita Vashisht. The new season, directed by Tanuj Chopra, follows the story of an abandoned baby, who pulls 'DCP Vartika Chaturvedi' and her team into a spine-chilling investigation.
