Deepika Padukone Breaks Silence On Separating From Her Husband, Ranveer Singh, 'A Bit Strange...'

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are one of the most loved couples in Bollywood. Their journey from co-stars to being parents of a daughter have captured a lot of hearts. Over the years, they have often grabbed attention for their lovey-dovey moments in public and on social media. However, in a recent interview, Deepika opened up about the time when she had to distance herself from her husband.

During a recent candid chat with Pinkvilla, the Chennai Express actress, Deepika Padukone opened up about the time when she was forced to distance herself from Ranveer, not in personal life but professionally. During the chat, Deepika explained that during the early years of her relationship, she got used to working with Ranveer in every film. Later, when they had to work alone, she took some time to process that feeling. Deepika was quoted as saying:

"He's always been supportive of my work and it's actually a bit strange because when we met, we were doing films together and then, his first film post-Padmaavat was actually Gully Boy. So it felt different for me to be like 'Okay, now you're doing a film and I'm not in it' and then, I had a release in which he wasn't there. So it took some time to get used to that because our first interaction with each other was as co-stars. It took us a while to disconnect from that and be able to understand each other as actors, without being in that film."

During an interview in November 2025, the 83 actor, Ranveer Singh had shared his experience of working with Deepika Padukone. He had revealed that he enjoys working with his wife as they have a ‘natural’ chemistry, which resonates with the audience. He also mentioned that Deepika perfectly compliments his energy and keeps him grounded. In his words:

"I love working with Deepika. Our on-screen chemistry is so natural. There’s an authenticity there that’s priceless. That really resonates with the audience."

For those who do not know, Ranveer and Deepika met on the sets of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. During the shoot of the film, the couple became friends and eventually fell in love. Ranveer had once shared that Udaipur is a very lucky place for love birds. Soon, the two started dating and in 2015, Ranveer proposed to the King actress. The power couple tied the knot in November 2018, in an intimate ceremony in Italy. Years later, in September 2024, they welcomed their first daughter, Dua Padukone Singh. The couple had revealed Dua’s face on Diwali 2025.

Talking about their work front, Ranveer Singh is currently enjoying the success of his recently released blockbuster film, Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar. According to IMDb, he will next be seen in Dhurandhar 2 and Don 3: The Final Chapter. On the other hand, his wife, Deepika Padukone, who was last seen in the film, Singham Again, is all set to make a comeback in King alongside SRK. Reportedly, she will also be seen in the Telugu film, AA 22.
