Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are among the most loved couples in Tinseltown. The two fell in love on the sets of their film, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, and tied the knot on November 14, 2018, in Lake Como, Italy, in the presence of their family and close friends. Their surreal wedding ceremony was filmed by none other than The Wedding Filmer, a.k.a. Vishal Punjabi.
The filmmaker sat for an interview with Brut and shared some insights into celebrity weddings. During the conversation, Vishal recalled the moment Deepika asked him to film her wedding while they were shooting the wedding scene in Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. "So, one night while we were playing Pictionary between shots on Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Deepika whispered into my ear and said, 'Would you shoot my wedding when it does happen?' and I started blushing because I couldn't like I was just like wow, how sweet. And, lo and behold, when it was happening many years later, she texted me, and she was like I want you to shoot my wedding and I was flattered beyond belief, life came a full circle."

In the same conversation, when he was asked which celebrity wedding was the most fun to shoot, Vishal immediately talked about Deepika and Ranveer's wedding. He added that it happened at one of his favourite locations, Lake Como. Sharing that he felt like a part of the family, The Wedding Filmer said:
"One of my favourites would be Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding. It happened in one of my favourite locations, Lake Como. The Italian food, the wine, the weather, the people, I felt very much a part of the family and the wedding itself."
The Wedding Filmer rose to immense popularity after he captured the wedding of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, who got married in 2017. In the same interview, Vishal, who has also filmed Rakul Preet Singh-Jaccky Bhagnani, Rajkummar Rao-Patralekha, and Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan's wedding, shared that Virushka's wedding changed the trend of Indian weddings. He said:
"Anushka Sharma’s wedding was the first Bollywood wedding that was released on Instagram and YouTube. When that came out, it went global. The fact that we could make music for a wedding, the fact that a celebrity wedding could be simple yet beautiful and ethereal…"
