Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh introduced their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, to the world just a day after Laxmi Pujan. It is not just a mere coincidence that Deepika and Ranveer waited for 54 days to announce their daughter's name. We think it might be related to the fact that Deepika delivered her daughter a day after Ganesh Chaturthi, and she wanted to worship her along with Maa Laxmi.
On November 1, 2024, Deepika, in a collaborative post with Ranveer Singh, introduced the world to her daughter. In the photo, we could see her baby girl's tiny feets as she was decked up in a red anarkali just like her mother, Deepika. Along with the picture, Deepika penned a note and revealed her daughter's name — Dua Padukone Singh.
While Deepika Padukone is a Konkani and Ranveer Singh is a Sindhi, they chose an Arabic name for their daughter. Dua is a word that originated from Arabic. Dua is a feminine name, and it means prayer. It has a beautiful religious context, as in Islam, it is an action of praying to God. Not only this, but Dua also has an origin in Albania, where it means 'love'. According to research on names, the name has a clam beauty and serendipity to it.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married in November 2018, after secretly being engaged for many years. The couple have named their baby girl, Dua, as she is the answer to all their prayers. In the caption, Deepika shared the reason for name her daughter, Dua, and wrote:
"Dua Padukone Singh! 'Dua': meaning a Prayer. Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love and Gratitude. Deepika and Ranveer."
