Darshan Mehta, who was the former managing director of Reliance Brands Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, and one of the first employees of Reliance Brands, bid farewell to the world on April 9, 2025. Darshan Mehta worked closely with Mukesh Ambani and Isha Ambani, and he was one of the key figures behind the latter's success in Reliance Retail.

If the reports are to be believed, he breathed his last on April 9, 2025, in his 60s. While no more information about the same is present as of now, as per a report by The Health Site, Darshan Mehta suffered a sudden heart attack, which commanded his life. For the unversed, Darshan Mehta was one of the leaders of Isha Ambani's team.

Darshan Mehta was a key figure in the Reliance Brands

Darshan Mehta has been associated with Reliance Brands since 2007, when Mukesh Ambani established it. He made a huge contribution to shape India's premium and luxury retail ecosystem, although, once in an interview he claimed not to like the term 'luxury'. Darshan Mehta had served as the CEO and President of Reliance Brands for 17 years, since the time it was established. As per the sources of The Times of India, it was in 2024 that Darshan Mehta stepped down from his position and transformed into the position of a non-executive director in the company, along with a mentorship position.

Talking about his contribution to Reliance Brands, over his 17 years of tenure, Darshan Mehta brought more than 90 Global brands of fashion, lifestyle, and luxury to India. Some of these brands are Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, Valentino, Versace, Armani, Coach, Jimmy Choo, Muji, Zegna, Boss, Pottery Barn, and Bottega Veneta. If a report by DNA is to be believed, in 2020-2021, Darshan Mehta earned a yearly amount of Rs. 4.89 crore for his hard work.

Darshan Mehta made a huge contribution to India's fashion and lifestyle retail industry. Before joining Reliance Brands, Darshan Mehta was a President of Arvind Brands Ltd. He was associated with this company from 2001 to 2007, and he brought some of the biggest International sportswear brands to India, such as Tommy Hilfiger, Gant, and Nautica to name a few. Ahead of flourishing his career in the fashion and lifestyle segment, Darshan Mehta was reportedly into advertising. He started his career by working at Price Waterhouse in Mumbai. Apart from that, he was also in a senior leadership position at Trikaya Grey Advertising, which is a part of WPP Group now. He was also a chartered accountant, and he was much into trekking.
