In December 2025, reportedly, the Income Tax conducted its first raids on the company, which were linked to Roy. For the past few days, the IT sleuths have been questioning Dr CJ Roy about the seized documents and have also been seeking clarification.

On January 30, 2026, TA Joseph, the Managing Director of Confident Group, handed over the company to Roy at the office on Langford Road. TA Joseph came with Roy to give a statement to the IT officers. Post reaching his office, Dr CJ Roy reportedly went inside his cabin. Joseph, according to a report by the NDTV, mentioned that Roy wanted to speak with his mother.

Joseph then went out of the cabin, and shortly afterwards, the security staff informed him that Roy had instructed him not to let anyone go inside. When Roy gave no response to repeated knocking, the staff realised the cabin door was locked from the inside. The report mentioned that the door was then broken open, and Roy was found seated on his chair. There was bl**d stains on his shirt and he was totally unresponsive.

An ambulance was then called for Dr CJ Roy, and the medical staff reportedly had immediately reached his office. However, Roy's pulse was not found, and he was then taken to Narayana Hospital located in the HSR Layout. Roy was taken to the emergency section, but sadly, he could not be revived. The Income Tax officials had confirmed that for an hour, Roy was being questioned, which was a part of the proceedings. The report also mentioned that the real cause behind CJ Roy's demise has yet not been clear. The cops mentioned that the investigations are ongoing as per the report and that no official conclusion has yet been released.

Post he came from Dubai, Roy had reportedly informed the officials that he would be available in Bengaluru whenever it was needed. The Income Tax team then questioned him in Bengaluru. The Income Tax department had conducted a lot of raids on companies that were linked to Roy. When the raids took place, there was an allegation that Roy had reportedly possessed assets which were disproportionate to the sources related to his income. After Dr CJ Roy died by sui**de, a formal complaint was filed by Joseph at the police wanting an in depth investigation related to the sequence of events that led to Roy's demise. Following the incident, a formal complaint has been filed at the police station by Joseph, seeking a detailed investigation into the events leading up to Roy's death.
