After dating each other for three years, Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler decided to call it quits. While the two have moved on from their breakup over a year ago, it seems Kaia Gerber's mother is not over it, as she continues to trash-talk Austin Butler. She went on record and stated that Austin used Kaia to strengthen his connection in Hollywood.

As per a source close to the 59-year-old supermodel, Cindy Crawford was never a fan of the 34-year-old, Austin Butler. In fact, they let Austin into the family just because their daughter, Kaia thought that she had a future with him. However, he was the complete opposite and liked partying. The family believes that Austin used Kaia to bolster his own Hollywood connections. As per the National Enquirer, the source was quoted as saying:

"They let Austin into the family because Kaia wanted a real future with him. But he was a party animal at heart and there’s a clear argument that Austin was using Kaia to bolster his own Hollywood connections and get a foot in the door of the establishment."

The source further added that Cindy has been vocal within her social circle and clearly stated that Austin wasn't an innocent angel who got distracted by his Oscar Nomination or sudden fame as a leading man. She even openly stated that Austin knew what he was getting into and he wanted the easy attending that came from associating with such a well-established and famous Hollywood family. The source shared:

"Cindy has been very vocal within her social circle, pushing back on the idea that Austin is just some kind of innocent angel or deer in the headlights who got distracted by his Oscar nomination and sudden status as a leading man. She’s not letting that story stand. Cindy is quick to remind people that Austin knew exactly what he was getting into and, for a while at least, basked in the easy attention that came from associating with such a famous and well-connected family."

However, what hurts Cindy Crawfod is that Austin's plan actually worked, and he was able to make a name for himself. On the other hand, her daughter, Kaia, a model and actress, continues to struggle despite her best efforts, and that's her real source of irritation.

Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler's love story

Kaia Gerber, who is a runway model, started dating Elvis star in 2021. Their relationship was all over the headlines as they were inseparable. Not only this, Kaia even helped Austin move into a new home and set it up with her energy in mid-2023. However, people often speculated whether the two were in a live-in relationship, with Kaia moving in with Austin. Many even thought that the two were engaged, but sources close to them refuted the marriage talks.

The two were first linked in December 2021 when they were spotted in Los Angeles as they headed to a yoga class together. Soon, they were seen hanging out with each other more often, sparking buzz about something brewing. However, they kept it private for a year and made their relationship public in March 2022 when they attended W Magazine's annual Best Performance party together.

The two even stepped out and made appearances at a bunch of celebrity events. They were even part of the 2022 Met Gala, the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, and the 2023 Golden Globes. However, the two never talked about their relationship in media interviews or indulged in social media PDAs. During an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Kaia revealed that she preferred keeping her romance private, as being a public figure her entire life is in front of the media and public. So, she preferred keeping her relationship away from the media glare. 

Why did Kaia Gerber and Austin break up?

After three years of a whirlwind romance, Kaia and Austin decided to part ways. The two stopped making their joint appearances, and Austin skipped Kaia's family holiday. As per TMZ, Austin and Kaia decided to end their relationship at the end of 2024. The media outlet further stated that the two don't have any bad blood. 

Talking about the reason for their breakup, it is reported that Kaia and Austin's relationship just faded after all three years of being together, touring around Europe, and attending all kinds of face events. It is reported that soon the two stopped showing up together for events and started arriving solo. 

It is also worth mentioning that Austin and Kaia had a huge age gap. While Austin was 31 years old, Kaia was 20 when they first started dating. It seems like the 11-year age gap started affecting their steamy romance, and they chose to part ways rather than end things on an ugly note. But since families were involved, they made up their minds and opinions on the split and the other person. 

It is worth mentioning that Kaia Gerber has moved on in life and is dating Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman.
