Chiranjeevi Faces Wrath For Saying There's Nothing As Casting Couch, Faulted Women, 'Insecurity..'

Recently, Chiranjeevi faced the wrath of social media for a comment that he made. The comment in question was about the casting couch in the Telugu film industry, which Chiranjeevi denied having any existence, while faulting this on women. Here's what happened!

Chiranjeevi says there's nothing like a casting couch in the industry, while faulting it to women 

On January 25, 2026, Chiranjeevi joined the Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu event, and while being there, he talked about the Telugu film industry. The actor revealed that there's nothing like a casting couch in the Telugu industry, and it depends on people's behaviour. He further added that a person who is coming to the industry shouldn't have any insecurity about anything and should always be professional so that others, too, can mirror that. Chiranjeevi's exact words were:

"There's no such thing as a 'casting couch' or anything like that. It depends on your behaviour. You shouldn't have any insecurity about how things might be. Be professional, and others will be professional too. This industry is like a mirror; what you give is what you get back. So, for anyone who wants to enter this industry with courage, come with determination, strong resolve, and hard work as your support. This is a great industry...everyone will thrive, whether they are girls or boys."

Chiranjeevi went on to add that the industry is like a mirror, and what is given is also received. Chirajeevi further added that, be it a boy or a girl, anyone could thrive in the industry if they come with willpower, determination and strictness. He stated that he strongly believes that if anyone has ever said that they have had a bad experience in their time in the industry, then it's their own fault, as he thinks that if anyone is here with seriousness and a strict nature, no one is ever going to take advantage of them. He could be quoted as saying:

"This is a great industry. If someone hasn't thrived here or says there are negative people or they've had a bitter experience, I strongly believe it's their own fault. If you are strict and serious, no one will try to take advantage of you."

Chiranjeevi received backlash for his comments

No sooner Chiranjeevi's comments made rounds on social media, than social media went furious. The actor received backlash for the comments that he made, which people tagged as 'misogynistic', while some of his fans defended him. One user penned, "This is heartbreaking. A distinguished actor speaking like this. Very disappointed." Another user said, "Makes a movie that is covertly misogynistic and then goes on to speak this. Nice."

Singer Chinmayi Sripada talked about the comments that the actor made. Taking to her social media, Chinmayi revealed that the industry is never a mirror. She further added that the actor came from a generation where all the female co-stars were co-related, so the atmosphere was good, and people used to respect each other, whereas now things are different. She was the first ever celebrity to comment on Chiranjeevi's claims that the casting couch does not exist in the industry. People have been supporting Chinmayi's reaction to Chiranjeevi's comments, which brought him wrath from social media and from others as well.
