'Chicago Med' Fall Finale: Is 'Dr Caitlin' Going To Be 'Ok' After Blood-Pumping Domestic Violence?

'Dr Caitlin Lenox' (Sarah Ramos) has landed in danger on Chicago Med after she went out on a limb to help a patient in need. That limb snapped with the return of Jack Falahee's villainous 'Devin Carter'. The character appeared during Season 11, Episode 4, Family First, after he and his wife, 'Faye', visited 'Gaffney'. The couple visited the hospital following an explosive argument that resulted in 'Faye' having a lacerated spleen. Despite having a cover story, 'Lenox' and the nurses caught several telltale signs of domestic abuse. 

'Dr Lenox' in danger?

Despite the backstory, 'Lenox' and the nurses could see the signs of domestic abuse. While 'Lenox' urges 'Fate' to file a report, the latter, in turn, denies any support from the concerned 'Gaffney' team. This leads to 'Lenox' going the extra mile and adding her contact information to 'Faye's' phone, feeling disheartened and anxious about 'Faye's' refusal to leave her abusive husband. But little did she know that wasn't the last 'Lenox' would see of 'Devin Carter'.

'Lenox' found herself determined to help 'Faye' during Med's fall finale. However, as she continues to process her GSS diagnosis silently, she has embraced an entirely new attitude due to feeling she has little to lose. 'Lenox' soon catches the wind of an injured patient who wouldn't wake up after passing out at a pharmacy with a B.A.C. of 2.75. However, she is shocked to discover an unresponsive 'Devin Carter' back in her Emergency Department less than a month after his other incident. 

'Lenox' grows suspicious that 'Devin' may have passed out during a failed attempt to treat injuries he got during another fight with 'Faye'. However, after waking up, he gives the doctors a half-hearted excuse, saying a player ran into him, knocking him into a glass wall. 'Devin' claimed he passed out after drinking off the pain and trying to fix himself up at a pharmacy. Things take another turn when 'Dr Mitch Ripley' insists on calling his wife, but he shrugs it off, saying she is away on a business trip. Nonetheless, 'Lenox' senses the lie and calls 'Faye' only to hear it buzz in 'Devin's' pocket. 

'Dr Caitlin Lenox' gets attacked during a troubling house call

'Lenox' quickly pens the 'Carters' address as 'Ripley' cautions her against taking matters into her own hands. However, unwilling to give up, she says it's their only option; the local police wouldn't prioritise a welfare check amid an upcoming storm that would lead to an influx of calls. They didn't have time, so 'Lenox' left Gaffney as 'Ripley' kept stalling by postponing 'Devin's' stitches and insisting on a CT scan for a potential concussion. 

'Devin' grows impatient with the Gaffeny crew and asks to be discharged. However, as 'Ripley' continues to drag his feet, Davin' is hardly fooled. On the other end, 'Lenox' arrives at Faye's door, but no one answers, leading her to break in. This leads to the climax of the finale, where 'Lenox' finds 'Faye' bleeding in the basement after being pushed down the stairs. Despite wanting to help, 'Lenox' is forced to leave the basement to get better cell service to contact authorities. She assured 'Faye' she would be right back, but just as she arrived upstairs, 'Devin' was there waiting with a handgun, who ended up striking 'Lenox' unconscious, leaving 'Chihards' with one heck of an emotional cliffhanger to process.
